The talent does not override the weakness. Which makes sense, its just worded in such a way that one would believe that recruiting champions is free.

Create Sovereign:
Talent: Natural Leader: Recruiting champions is free.
Weakness: Cruel: +1 to attack, +50% cost to hire champions

Cost to hire my first Champion: 56 guildar.

No, Natural Leader should say "-100% to normal cost of hiring champions".
