[.915][SUGGESTION] Would allowing monsters to move full spead be fun?


Currently all monsters are limited to one move per turn.  Which effectively allows you to bypass with a bit of care any roaming monsters.  If they were allowed their full movement, would this make the game more fun?  IN a different thread I will make a discussion on whether monsters should target cities and outposts.   I think that these two changes can be done independantly with different strength of effects to "fun".

Pros:

  • early game clearing and exploration era will expand slightly. (pioneers will get chomped up unless converted into outpost quickly)
  • would make humans need to play a more layered type defense (to stop monsters accidentally eating all your resources), which will even out AI vs Human power.  More decisions = more fun. (can currently run around with 2-3 uber champs and win easily  on hard).
  • Very hard to gimp a monster out of its lair to steal it equipment without consequently getting killed.   (could have issue of human's using sacrificial lamb to steal item then get killed, then go pickup item from uber injured champ imobolised in the city).  This would stop sudden power spikes which allow a Sov or Champ to become way over powered relative to the rest of the players early-mid game.  (got dragon slayer spear early game, I think I gained a level on my Sov every 2 turns....  lvl 20 and not even researched to chainmail.....dmg > 60 with 66% armour negation.....)

Cons:

  • unlocking late game monsters by placing an outpost or city that then gives you ZOC over a lair.  (think hoarder spider early on kicking your arse because you or ai ZOC its lair and turned it roaming, or a Slag)
  • No way to sneak past the second tier of roaming monsters from your starting point.  You WILL have to be powerfull enough to clear the area to explore further.
  • Not being able to explore further increases the time before dimplomacy comes into play (because it will be harder to get in contact with the other players).

I think the late game monster unlocking can be negated by a change I am about to post in the monster targeting thread (basically unlock monsters kill the offending structure then go back to sit on their lair, this has been suggested A LOT).

Aparantely they are already the favourite side (per Frogler).  And No, I wouldn't only play Tarth.  There are some awesome abilities with the other teams which are SOOOO much fun :)

This could use some balance, but I don't want to see monster armies moving too fast...Umbers have a move of 4 I think, which gives them a long range. I just think we need better balance between lairs and wandering monsters. Settling or hanging around a lair should be suicidal for the unprepared. Maybe an auto-returm function for lair guards, so that we don't end up with undefended lairs while the guards chase someone? 

 

And Tarth...ugh. I hate their ability, it just seems like a lazy ability. How does it fit their lore of escaped gladiators? Why don't the beasts attack them? I would like to see the ability reworked to something that makes more sense.

I would like options on game creations surrounding this. I like to be stomped, but I think that most ppl dont.

Funny, this is one of the places where I am flexible, I don't mind this part since I will learn to live with it, atleast moving at full speed I hope they will chew down some more pioneers xD
