[Graphics Bug] Unit Pictures

Since the launch of Beta 3, the space where the unit graphics used to be is a black, blank space, beginning in the "Who are you?" screen before you start a game. I use a laptop with Win7 64Bit, Duo CPU and 4 GB Ram.

Additionally, the GUI has always felt really sluggish and unwieldy to me, beginning at the "Who are you?" screen. Perhaps it is an oversight on my part, but i have yet to find a way to tone the graphics down in order to make interaction with the GUI swift and smooth.

Yeah, same here & similar laptop (Win7 64 bit, I forget the other details).

Had a similar problem a while back, turned out to be related to FE not auto-switching to the dedicated graphics hardware: https://forums.elementalgame.com/418215/get;3090519.

It still doesn't, but I get around it for now by forcing GPU selection for FE.exe.

If your laptop has an Intel graphics chip, it might be the reason for the missing models.

I have the same on another (work) computer with nearly the same specs.  It does have a dedicated graphics card, but I will have to write down the model and driver version and re-post after work (they have blocked game sites for the moment).

End of sratner's quote

I have trouble finding out how to do that, maybe you could tell me?

Hi Simon I had the same problem but like Stratner said, you can fix it by selecting your graphics card via the start menu (or the icons in the bottom right corner) - I have an Nvidia card and it was easy to find due to the logo in the icon. Once you have found and clicked on it you will have a range of options - I solved it by going to advanced settings and adding the elemental programme as something that uses my Nvidia card as opposed to the integrated one - previously it was mapped to global settings and therefore used the default card.

hope that helps

Thank you, though i have a different graphics card (ATI Radeon mobility HD) and there does not seem to be an option for switching between dedicated and integrated graphics.

in .915 unit graphics are white shapes on black background, before they where black shapes on blacker background, quite an improvement here  ^_^

(windows XP and ATI readeon)

Same issue here, black space when you select a unit and you're supposed to see the description and the graph of the unit and very slow interaction. Using a 2008 macbook pro running windows xp on osx 10.6. Will try the solution posted here.

Has anybody found a workaround in the meantime? I really hope this problem gets looked at before Beta 4 is released, I for one have not touched the game since the launch of Beta 3 due to this bug.
