My First Impressions

I've played but a few games of fallen enchantress at this point but I feel it's about time to mention some of the things I've noticed.

I'mma gonna start with the obvious one, the AI at the default difficulty (Normal I think) can't seem to finish the game unless you make some massive mistake. in my 2nd last game I hid in my capital (read: my only city not eaten by wolves) from the moment I beat the last empire race until I finished the game by slowly researching and building the spell of making, in total it took probably a good 300 turns of which the 1 remaining AI player (the altar) had free reign of the map. All I did for this entire time was hit auto resolve for any combats that came my way and hoped my crystal outposts didn't get destroyed. in that many turns the AI should of completed a win condition seeing as they had full control of the entire map.

The other thing I've noticed is the contagion (with a little help from the corruption strategic spell) does way more damage for way less mana then any other spell in fact my sov can level entire factions with just that spell.

The first point is actually the more annoying one, as after that game I no longer feel like I'm managing anything by winning the game because the AI wasn't a threat at all at this level (but this might be fixed by turning up the AI difficulty) but then again i'm really bad at this game (and most 4x titles) so I don't really want to do that yet.

Anyone else having similar experiences or have some form of insight to add?

The AI isnt finished yet, but it is getting better. It still is not fielding strong armies mid/late game as you have experienced.

It is also not programed to "win" the game, but to play it and give you a challenge while you try to win. The only time it would win, is by killing you. So if you are turtling in a fortress that they simply can't break through, then they just can't win. Also, keep in mind that the normal AI is also a bit crippled because a lot of people complain that the easier modes are too hard, so Brad had to tone them down (although I think they were mainly complaining about monsters being too hard more than AI). Generally speaking, you shouldn't really complain about the AI's behavior unless you play on Challenging (where all of it's bells and whistles are activated). Although, from the sound of things, you might want to get use to the game a bit before you move up (hint: hunt the wolves before they eat your cities).

The AI not fielding strong army actually does explain my entire problem with the first point, (and might even mitagate part of the 2nd point as well), as that would explain why the enemy win despite the fact he clearly should of as they wouldn't have the army to do the quests (which is what I assume the altar army would try and do even if it's not finished) and also explains why they couldn't beat my stack of parties (party is 3 right) of disicples.
