After updating to the lasted patch and attempting to play this morning, I finally decided it was time to post in the forum again.

And first to avoid the confrontation----DO not tell me this is not the game i want to play. After thousands of hours playing this and the previous game ---yes it is the game i want to play, broken and messed up, but yes i want to play it.

Stop changing core mechanics. period.

sovs have -8 hp to start now and a stalker kills me first turn.

sovs cant level and cant get a magic proficiency

sovs cant use any equipment until level 15 and everyone knows the game wont play that far

favorite sovs are now on the disabled list and cant be played? what?

You took away all the stat stuff so we can play a different game and stats dont matter except for the grindingly overbearing initiative penalty for wearing armor and trying to use any weapon other than a table knive

What game are you intending that we play? Every patch takes away so much stuff it isnt funny anymore.

I have sideways arrows and spells no taming black screens for character portraits roaming monster killing my retarded sov outpost sprawl

city sprawl graphics lock ups turn lock ups combat lock ups diplomacy lock ups spells that dont work level ONE summoned creatures CTD

NO STARTING positions worth building an outpost on and a dragon in my hip pocket

Every single time i load a patch i see less and less of a reason to continue playing this game every single day

What are we going to be doing by release? Playing only tarth with a 2 hp sov with no magic?

Sit back go get a beer and try to understand the absolute frustration of trying to play my favorite game ever and every week getting a beat down

The next patch should be to straighten up every little damn problem that we are reporting here on the forums. STOP changing mechanic and

gameplay. STATs change was absolutely over the rainbow ---u dont need strength anymore but here is a penalty for strength and u cant get it unless it randomly shows up when u level. WHAT? I didnt volunteer to be a red headed step child or a whipping boy.

AND please stop changing random chunks of gameplay mechanics just because your five hour energy drink kicked in and you THINK U are a god

I will bet u all the internets that right now if you cleaned up the video errors ctds and other freaking errors that are beating the hell out of us that you would be very well received by your core gamers. Instead you go over here and kill some sovs for no reason...I dont understand at all

Yes this is rambling and yes I KNOW the only response will be to say THAT this isnt the game you are looking for......damn if i hear that one more time I am going to poison every single forum i post on. DONT ever tell your customers that. We stood by you when you released a turkey and tried to help you keep a reputation. Continue to slap us in the face and we will all go back to Fall from Heaven. 

Simply put for the last time STOP changing game mechanics and just fix the game. Thanks for hours and hours of gaming fun..and being ten thousand times more fun that the latest CIV....they should have hired KAEL

Many had thier own veiw what need to be "fix" and what is not "fix", Personal, something like that, in .912 sov level up 30 level, and I do not think this need to fixed, and some other think it's need to fix and now we stuck up to 12 and 13 level and no longer fun, therefold, some think this is fixed now and I think it's need to fixed back, some think this broken, some think this is not broken, ect...., .912 level are not bad and so much fun and reward for level up sov, now we are limited to 12 to 13 level of sov, no longer fun, you fight this sov after hundred battle and still stuck 13 level, no reward for that. way I see it.

You should also realize this beta process is not similar to most other game companies. Most of them put out betas near final release just to get a huge sample size for finding bugs, and those games are usually very close if not completely feature complete. What Stardock is doing is allowing us to input as the game is developed with many things not even CLOSE to being ready for final release which is still ~ 6 months out or more.

Leo that would be cool if we hadn't been playing this game for two years with the same bugs. This game is the same as elemental. Or it has the same people coding the same mistakes. I remember when the monsters in Elemental started eating us just because someone decided that we wanted to die and see the load screen over and over. Now black widows are beating my sov on initiative when she has plus 10 and then eating her on the first turn.........loads of fun.

it seems like you  have the difficulty set too high for your  prefered style of play. If you just want to roflstomp play on easy. Some people enjoy a challenge.

 set on normal...have you played the new patch? I have just spent about 8 hours on it and it is a reload fest. not everyone likes looking at the load screen. A challenge is not dying on the first turn.  a challenge is not being able to build your second city because a dragon is one direction a bone ogre is another and the knights are in the other. Sitting here pushing the turn button waiting for a spearman is not playing a game...its getting the hell beat out of u because someone upped the voltage to 11.

Yes, many had point of view what is a challenge, if one enemie are stronger than you like he had 100 hitpoint and 100 damage and you had 50 hitpoint and 50 damage, is that a challenge? maybe, maybe not, if he hit you one hit, alway hit you one hit, then no it's not a challenge, but if you try to stay away from he hitting you and you damage that he can't dogle it, maybe it's challenge, or maybe not. but if 50 chance he hit you, you might die, you might not, is that challenge? maybe and maybe not, it's like 50 chance you win, or not, just based on chance, not challenge, so what is a challenge? You just won or lose a game by based of your skill, or know ahead, plan, your enemie may be stronger than you or even weaker than you but yet more number than you. If enemies is so stronger, 100 time than you, it's not a challenge, if he stronger two time than you are, maybe it's challenge or maybe not. if he stronger than you by 1/2, that's may be challenge, and I might speaking as alien tongues.

Stronger enemies? ungodly bandits...new game 1 bandit and dog    bandit dodged 7 times in a row.   My sov the ruler of a nation cant hit a bandit but he can hit me 4 times with a knive and i cant hit him once? I dont know where the developers are going but it sure isnt any fun.

Die reload die reload CTRL n for a new starting location die reload level and get a WORTHLESS upgrade die reload die reload pick up a hero die now my hero is a gimp -10 hp   AT FIRST level. My initiative is so low that bears in another part of the world get a combat turn before i do.

 

Yep I can see the fun in this.

Playing with latest patch and i like it.  To me normal is hard enough :D starting again and again but learning all the time. I love hardcore games (roguelikes etc) where you have to deal with "unfair stuff". There are no impossible games, only lack of asian players

Hmm wierd, I've been using custom heroes myself so not once have I had a problem that first turns are hard, usually hero levels the first 4 levels real easy. It gets harder once I try to expand the second city cos then waking up some more powerful foes is when I start loosing outposts/second cities, even armies :P . But once I get my first punch of soldiers to go with the hero I'm able to take care of them aswell(all that in challanging difficulty).

I'm a little confused, the whole issue as to whether or not the game is to hard should be solved thru changing the difficulties with in the game. I don't think changing the game mechanics it the answer, if your play on hard or even normal & your coming across a little difficulty or getting steam rolled on the higher setting than, well, OK that's how it's suppose to happen, however if your on novice or some other low level game setting & your getting steamrolled than, yeah there might be a problem here.

So much nerd rage.  Honestly, a video game never gets me this upset.  I've played some duds in my time, especially on the Commodore 64.

 

Anyway, I really like the direction the game is heading.  Like everyone is saying, you can change the difficulty setting if you want it easier.  With previous patches, even hard wasn't challenging.  Now it is.

 

And I actually like the early turns of the game.  I now have to think about city placement, and what monsters to avoid.  Not just attack, kill, repeat.  There is more thought required. 

 

If you want to have a game where you just attack wave after wave of monster without much challenge or thought, maybe you should get Diablo.  You just need to point click repeat.  Use a heal once in a while.

It seems to me that you lack perspective in the OP. Balancing this particular game is quite difficult. Perhaps you should try out some of your own balancing ideas before condemning the ones in the recent betas. If you don't like low Hp, add some in a mod for units. Or research Leatherworking right away and lower the cost of shop items.

 

On a sarcastic internet note: I do think this is the right game for you, but you clearly suck at it, noobzor. My Irane build on challenging and dense monsters is so easy, but its because I better at the game. Wait till release and I will write you a walkthrough.

Its so nice to be insulted and be told that I should cheat to play this game.

No one wants to address the gaping problems I and others have listed.....just add some mods and it will be ok.

Nice to see what the gamers think of this game--U have to mod or cheat to play.

Just quit on a battle with 4 heroes 2 umberdoth and a big spider on my side against 12 or 14 defenders in a city.......2 heroes and a spider died while waiting for a fireball..........fun fun fun    total wipe without a hero on the other side......maybe balance is a little off?

But i will just cheat and then everything will be ok.

Hey, you said you were tired of being told the game is not for you. I was just trying to find a more annoying response. Don't take me too seriously. If you played my mod, you would see I found a pretty perfect balance for Hp, shop costs, and pretty much every other of the major balance problems. But the fact is that Kael has his own process for balance. One thing I learned from modding is that the stuff you release is just a snapshot of a continual process. Another thing is that the dev process is split up into many departments. Bugs and such are handled by a different person than balance. Kael balances things. There are probably alot of other people working on animations and AI and such. So it would not speed up bug fixes to stop balancing things. It's a complicated and mystified system.

I do have to agree that the random level up options for heroes are a little too random.

How about weighting the choices based on attributes, that way a hero with path of the warrior doesn't get a lot of spell options and vice versa.

I think the OP is making some valid points, but maybe didn't do so in the best way.  I think the points he is trying to make are real, and valid complaits.  But you should always avoid hyperbole and state facts clearly, otherwise people will get bogged down on the details and miss the point.

 

I have made these kinds of points over and over for the last two years.  I've barely touched the game in the last few months, I am ready to see the final product.  Each balancing decision is hard for me to comprehend for every little patch, can't tell if it's a good idea or bad, so I think I will wait and see what the final product has in store, but I'm just not drawn in to play the beta any more.  Excited about hte final game, but I feel like I  have been playing the beta for 2 years.
