[0.914] Bugs

Started a new game with 0.914, small map, 3 opponents, challenging, visibility cheat on

Checking things I had posted on before at first:

  • AI still founds initial city on the tile the sovereign starts on (3/2 when the next tile is a 4/3, or a 4/2 when the next tile is a 4/4, etc)
  • AI units use all move to depart cities
  • AI still spends several turns sometimes not constructing anything in the early game (turn 20), when no buildings have been produced
  • If an AI pioneer ends it movement on the location for the city or outpost, it waits until the next turn to build the outpost.  The save above, 3-4 turns later, shows that.

Not a bug, but it seems sometimes the AI takes some time to think between turns.  I happen to think that's great, as it's thinking more, but some kind of icon or something so we know it's still thinking would help (like the icons in the Total War series).

I'm looking forward to starting a real game tomorrow!!  Thanks for the updates!!!

How about the turn button glowing red while the ai thinks ?

I'm finding that the AI will set down cities within a tile of monster lairs.  And they're still not being attacked.

Silver flute not working in combat

Excellent additions to the information provided by pop ups in and out of combat. It would be nice if i could see how much food i have available for growth withought bringing up the city display. I understand the major city upgrade is happening in the next version so we are doing great there.

My immediate reaction to the changes in the first couple rounds of the game. With the continuation of the lower xp for heroes, the lower level requirements for found equipment - this is after all primarily a player versus environment game so we don't need such strict limits as long as the ai uses the equipment it finds as well - is working well. I have found one or two items - in this case staff of the furnace for my wizard, along with champion's cuirass for my sovereign, and the furnace armguards which i put on my second hero, have allowed me to run around with two stacks instead of one.  so i have a hero, a trained unit and a "summoned" unit in each stack the warg spell, and the dog token - summon annie. This makes it much easier to patrol the borders and keep the monsters away.

really considering a request for a maximum number of ouptosts per faction because this outpost spam by the ai is really annoying. I am really starting to hate open borders. I remember that the concept of the open borders started in war of magic to make it easier for players to complete quests that spawned in other faction territory. Can we please revisit this ? At the very least i would love a way to get rid of theses pests without declaring war on them...

EDIT: i am adding to this as i play - death shard refuses to turninto life shard - i have tried to plop an outpost, a settlement and a monolith beside it - would it stay as a death shard if it was hit with a transform into death shard spell ? Don't think that has happened here but i don't know if those particular death shards behave differently.

FOUND a tome of the mountain in a spider nest - cool and omg doesn't even begin to cover it

Designed units that i have prepared in previous games are showing up in my build queue with incomplete equipment lists - i built a few of them only to discover they were carrying no weapons since i haven't unlocked that particular tech yet. Why do these show up if they are not fully equipped as designed ?

why is the ai buffing with protection from cold when i am throwing fire at it ? he should be casting flame wave at me - i can see his spell list on his detail screen.

clicking on the detail screen out of turn may have crashed my game agian.

That death/life shard thing has been around for a while, not saying it's acceptable, but I find saving and reloading the game often times changes the shard (it does a ZOC recalc/update and converts it), but only if the shrine hasn't been built. Once the shrine has been built, you have to raze it if you want it to change.

I think is a bug or a AI problem: I conquered all the Yitrhil's cities and ask for surrender... they agree, and their sovereing became mine...only is spawned with 0 move nearby Torax 8C   and surrounded by enemies (in fact, I can't imagine HOW he as reach that location)

He died and i checked im in my capitol..he was level 10 with a LOT of magic item (so much in fact, that i was able to equip my 2 champ and the sov with new weapon and object and earn 200 gildar selling the lesser useful ones). In the meantime my sov and champs where only level 5 (on normal and AFTER the war), but i was in the beginning of the game (i had 1 city when started the war and the Yitrhil only 2).

Other bugs:

  • Found a vambrace object (one of the red ones), similar to a chain one, with the same weight, less defense and NO special, only a good price :| .
  • the AI still found outpost near the monster without being destroyed (and marching with their army nearby, when I try to do the asme, I was attacked)
  • I saw a few of the lateral arrows bugs
  • Cast healing on my champ, the green bar remain half black, but he was completely healed, and after he attack, the bar went totaly green :ninja: .
  • Pathfinding problem: the parties seems to chose always the most direct path, also when a less straight path can use a road (it happen to me, he chose to go in a forest and took 2 turn to reach a point, when choosing a less direct path with a road can take only one turn to reach the same point)

Balance problems (and possible bugs):

  • when Torax join me after surrender, he had 2 negative traits... -50% hp AND -10% hp,  so I have a path of the warrior ex-sov of level 10 with 19 HP (!!!!), I think is too much for only 2 negative traits (and I can't understand the math, in the champ screen he say 19 base HP, +40 HP for level + 10 HP for adventurer boon, -40 HP for the -50% trait, -10 HP for the -10% trait...I studied History, but 69 - 60% is 27,6 not 19...)

Background and gameplay problem (for me at least):

  • reading the lore you think that the other kingdoms (or empire if you play them), are your natural allies, but i think that, with the actual champs recruit system, they are the first targets for a war, because the steal you the only not renewable resource of the game: friendly champions.

Really good job overall, the AI seems less a city spammer (but IS an outpost spammer) and really get better at every patch

I bought Warlock, master of the arcane, but this beta is already better and i play this a lot more than the paradox game!

ps i apologize for my english, is not my mother language

The Summon Shadow Warg Spell seems to be bugged. Even when the Shadow Warg dies in combat, the strategic enchantment is not automatically dispelled. Thus I have to go to Kingdom Report and dispel the enchantment manually for it to go away.

didn't the devs request that people make separate posts for their bug reports as it makes it easier to track them or something?

I'm not sure - and did they mean one post per bug, so I shouldn't list several in one post?  Or one post per person?

The reporting guidelines are here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/415301

Please do not reply to other people's posts with information on a different problem. This will make it more difficult to notice your problem and start the feedback cycle with us.
End of quote

The guidelines do not go into great detail on whether to make one post per bug. Intuitively, I would think it is better to have one post per bug, (unless they are all related to the same exact component). This makes it easier for others to know what bugs have already been posted as they can scan the subject lines.

Your post looks fine to me as all the concerns your bringing up pertain to one specific component (the AI). I would have just added a more a descriptive title such as: [0.914][BUG] Multiple AI Observations/Flaws.

FWIW: I clicked in here to figure out whether you had posted bugs I was planning on posting as I want to avoid duplication and could not figure out what your post pertained to from the subject line.  :digichet:

69 * .5 * .9 = 17.25

So the math is fine. Now if the AI is choosing path of the warrior after already suffering -50% HP then I have serious questions about the AI.

sorry, but 69*0,5*0,9 is 31.5. So it kinda seems to be a little buggy here.
