Rethinking the paths.

I'd like to see paths be the first level you get again, for all levels of heroes (the higher-level heroes you recruit, the paths should be the first lvl-up they get as well)

 

I'd like to see the paths downgraded in what they actually do, because otherwise they'd be a bit strong.

 

What the paths should do, is determine promotion frequency.  Magic spheres would be common for mage paths, uncommon for assassin/governor, and rare for warrior/defender.   What I really want is more randomness- a big part of the fun of sandboxing is the slot machine factor, and that's a little lacking in FE right now.

They could also do something relatively simple which is to split the traits into categories.

 

So if you take a warrior trait, and you are in the warrior path, you get + 2 hit points. If you take a magic trait with the path of the mage, you get +1 spell mastery and + 1 spell resist, or something like that.

 

Some of them could be "general" and not give any bonuses, this would still keep flexibility but guide you down the path. In terms of increasing the randomness, just adding more traits of all varieties would probably accomplish that.
