They always did for me, and yes, it's annoying sometimes.

Noticed at least since .86, not sure about WoM.

A more technical description: When loading a saved game, every unit with movement points and a set target movers its full move allowance toward the target before the player gains control.

Has SD said anything about fixing that?

Yeah, this has gotten me in trouble before - including, once, immediately initiating a battle (which I couldn't win) and not giving me a chance to cancel - jumping straight into the tactical view.

Apart from that one oddity, exactly as mmilleder describes it.

This is essentially what happens when you start a turn (I'm thinking this load is of an autosave, right?). When the turn starts, everyone moves. So it's not really a "load" problem, but rather a problem of when the auto saves happen. In other words, what you should be asking for is for the autosave to happen at the end of the previous turn (before you hit the turn button) rather than at the start of a new turn.

This is still a problem in .981.  I've had times where I have clicked to move to a tile where a monster is.  Save the game.  Load the game.  I'm immediately greeted with the Attack screen (cuz my guy moved to the tile), I hit cancel, I end up on the same tile as the monster both of us standing there.

I have experienced this as well, and will upload the save next time it happens.

See Post below that has a save game attached with the issue described above but in 0.981:

This bug still exists...causes lots of issues when you load a saved game like units on top of goodie huts, units from different factions or monsters on the same tiles, etc., not to mention the annoying popups coming from you have no idea.

Does taking off automatic turns help?  I really don't see this in my games, as I turned that annoyance off long ago.

Nope, I turned off automatic turns the first day.  Click on something that you can't reach this turn but can reach next turn (i.e. a monster, a goodie hut, etc.), click end turn, save your game, load your game.  Everybody moves.  Now imagine that when you're half way through a game, and you've got 20 dudes with movement points, and it's been several hours or days since you last played.

Huh, I've never noticed that.

There are quite a number of issues like this where the game just does weird things. I'm sure some of them are a byproduct of the game being so heavily multi-threaded. However there are so many strange things happening in my games that to me FE has the feel of a budget or unpolished game. Its completely unrealistic to fix even a majority of the little bugs people are reporting but I'm hoping Stardock will focus on the main issues which give FE a bad feel. I think it will pay off in review scores and sales...

Completely agree.  The bugs I've reported where (a) you can't get out of the game without killing it from task manager when you win the game and finish researching a tech on the same turn and (b) the the action bar disappears in tactical combat after a spell is cast are very likely multi-threading problems, that (IMHO) should be addressed with higher priority than the balancing issues.

It looks like you've tried to fix this by having everybody quick move to their places before I see them move.  Ummm, no.  That doesn't work.  The same problems still exist.  In a game last night, I had a guy moving one direction away from a monster.  Then I decided to fight the monster so I saved my game and fought the monster and lost.  I think I could have probably beat him so I exited the game and loaded my saved game only to find out that my dude was now 2 tiles away because of this bug.  Please stop moving guys when loading a saved game!

This may actaully smudge into a different topic entirely.

When you reload a game, it's going to recalaculate the pseudo-random actions. Since AI moves first on a turn, it may change it's mind and move instead of fight. I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with that...
