UI Scale

interface graphics too small at high res

Had the beta a few days now and for me the most noticeable problem with it is the size of the UI - I would like to play at 2560x1600 (on my 30" screen)  but find that I can't as the UI elements are too small for my middle-aged eyes - instead I have to revert to a lower (non-native) resolution so that I can play the game.

I would like there to be a slider in the video options that adjusts the size/scale of the UI as a percentage of default size/scale - being able to separately scale and move different UI elements (including font scale) would be a bonus.

I have this exact problem. At the very least I should be able to lower the, in game, resolution without being forced to play in window mode or lower my desktop resolution.

Fantastic point, I probably should write it down for my looking through the UI that I have planned for beta 4

So I guess we're the only ones that are bothered by the small UI?  I've been annoyed by this since the Elemental beta (even made a thread about it, if I remember correctly).  I figured Stardock would work UI scaling into Fallen Enchantress since higher resolution monitors are becoming more common.  Guess not.

edit: Unless someone knows of a mod that allows for this?

You got me excited there for a second!

From what I can tell, that setting does not affect the UI at all.

This problem only becomes apparent when you start at 1080p and above.  The buttons in the menu are displayed at a fixed resolution regardless of the user's screen size.  The higher the resolution gets, the smaller the buttons appear in relation to the rest of the screen.  At 2560x1600, I have to put my face right up to the monitor to read the text and find the smallest UI elements.

Reducing my resolution so the UI scales up appropriately is not a good solution because LCD screens do not handle image scaling as well as CRTs so everything gets blurry and ugly.

Many modern games provide a method of manually tweaking the size of the UI.  See Guild Wars 2 or World of Warcraft.

I was refering to the person that wanted the game not to be in windowed mode when they reduced the resolution. I completely understand the issue you are having and the poor quality of an LCD screen scaling.

I know heavenfall has changed some of the UI stuff, maybe he can help you out.
