The advent of the encumbrance system has, in my opinion, created the need for a storage system for items and weapons.
It would be nice to have the option to store items instead of either selling them or being encumbered.
Um... you can hold an endless amount of items and it won't count to your encumbrance. Only the items that you EQUIP counts. I should know, my sovereign runs around with an armory that could arm a couple of armies.
You are of course right kalin, but it is confusing at first and the layout of the storage system could be improved. maybe you can have train of pack ponies following your sovereign wherever s/he goes, i know we can get ponies into the game somewhere.
Reminds me of Demon's Souls where there is a separate Equipment encumberance and Item encumberance 
( I am grateful that there is only an equip encumberance in elemental ;))
And AI sovereigns like to carry around at least an army's worth of leather greaves at all times.
But it would be handy to have a storage system, especially for when your armies capture a nice item and there's no hero present to claim it.
And for when you want to equip new heroes, but your sov is off in the hinterlands.
