Wildlands: The new Minor Faction

Granted I know next to Nihl about Wildlands currently

Ok so I've never personally went into a Wildland (other than one move over tha border to try & negotiate, nothin),  I've never seen a Wildland have significant impact on tha game, I've never seen an army from a Wildland leave it's territory (though they might but I've never seen it), I've read amongst tha forums that there be a lot of quests in some of them. So I haven't really ever paid much attention to them (Not being much of a quester).  I think the Wildlands we have look cool & offer unique areas to explore, but I want to further the capabilites they offer.

In a recent discussion it was mentioned that one could produce a plethora of small/tiny Wildlands as a way to inhabit various races into the game (Im thinkin the mod of summons that HeavenFall & Seanw3 are workin on, over a hundred new races?).  If we had something like this and gave them a skeleton diplomacy setup, we could have minor factions back & have the ability to set them up in the workshop as we wished.  This would allow for there to be a whole new aspect to the game with local 'minor factions' having there own goals/wars/treaties/unique items and buildings/etc.

I'm not really sure what is capable & what isn't at the moment, but I for one would love the ability to set up any given 'race' in a basic tiny Wildland that would at least do somekind of diplomacy, this would add an additional layer/diminsion to the game: being Major Factions vs Major Factions/Minor Factions with non-intelligent/aggressive 'bumpers' inbetween with the occasional unique 'questing Wildland'.

Anyways, I just wanted to get a conversation up about the possibilities/pros/cons of something like this, how easy would this be to do I wonder as it seems to the untrained mind that we have most of the code for this now, just needs some tweakin (diplomacy happens to be the part I"m most concerned in) and maybe a few workshop options

I would like this. But I want my hands on the workshop more. :)

I have played this game many many times since the beta came out and I have never been in the Wildlands.

What size maps are you playing?

Wildland are awesome on large maps.  They offer unique and difficult challenges.  Do not attempt to clean one out unless you are a powerful wizard or have a very, very, very good (and large) army with you.

EPIC (normally play 500-1000 turns or so before I restart & try out something else) with as large of a map & as many factions as I can put on it- dense/many shards and so on

I like to play games that take at least a month or so of playin, but beta testing doesn't allow for this so I set up the same & play the first & second phase of play foregoing the timely 3rd (cleanup)

I have taken to small and medium maps to allow for faster games and more efficient testing. I see more wildlands on larger maps.

I would think we will see many more wildlands before release. I would love to have an Ogre wildlands that plays more like a minor faction. That would be the key to immersion I think; a gradual field of levels of civilization. Tribal societies and nomadic savages should blur the line between what a monster is and what a faction is. Possibly even going so far as allowing Ogres to inhabit captured cities and play as a faction if they can hold it. For the Butchers, perhaps they can twist the population into hordes of their own kind? I would especially like to be able to pay tribute to dragons and other epic monsters. Fresh Virgin-Meat anyone?

Perhaps we are talking about the expansion here, but this level of thought is the kind of stuff that is possible with not too much extra effort by the devs. The worst thing that could happen is that we run out of meaningful additions to the game. There will be more riding on the expansion than FE in some respects. FE is the game that revives the title. The expansion is the game that makes it a pattern of excellence. I believe we are playing best 2 out of 3 with Elemental.
