Borders and Color Confusion

Am I missing something? Do the faction colors not match the border colors? How do you tell faction lands apart?

Can you check if you turned "Smart Player Colors" on at some time?
Cause they aren't really smart.

Honestly even without smart colors the selection bugs me a lot. ATM unless Custom Factions are available again we are stuck with default faction colors and of the 8 factions Gilden/Kraxis and Magnar/Altar have almost the exact same border color and that's not taking into consideration wildland borders.
