[0.86] blocked at Bhinadmi Fissure (fireball spell can't complete)

OK, so I take my 'deadly' army into the Bhinadmi fissure. And one of my heroes attempts to cast a fireball spell (from a safe distance). But he can't complete the spell, since (1) Abeix's current tile is 'blocked' (I assume that's a feature, not a bug -- no directed spells would touch him, though indirect ones -- like Storm and Pandemoneum -- got through just fine), and (2) I have to target an enemy.

And I'm stuck. Even autoplay (my usual tactical bug workaround; I turn it on, then quickly turn it off) wouldn't progress anything. In the end, the only thing that would let me move forward was the 'autoresolution' button, which killed off my entire army. Fortunately, I had saved the game before I started the battle.

I know 0.87 is about to come out, but for what it's worth.  ..bruce..

There has got to be a better way, but I did succeed in killing Abeix.  "Pandemonium" spells work from a distance.  So I am standing there with a summoned elemental doing 10 points of damage per turn to Abeix on the only tile next to Abeix, while two spell casters with access to Pandemonium spells each cast one spell each turn to keep Abeix: Stunned, Slowed, Weakened.  This means I was standing there for 50+ turns; not real entertaining, but it works.

Besides storm & pandemonium, the other way I have found is a REALLY strong melee hero with Path of Defender and counterattack.  I used the Paragon spell expoit to level someone up to about 70-something, and Abeix was toast.  Just let him swing and let the automagic counterattack do its thing.

Anyway, you have to do something different than what works elsewhere, with is a nice change-of-pace.  I like that they put something like this in somewhere.... now if only they would do something about that wasteland we can't even get into.
