And they forged counterfeits from our frame, creatures vile and

obscene, who hungered only for violent congress. These beasts they

loosed upon the land, where they multiplied, no matter how fierce

the Ishroi hunted them. And soon Men clamoured at our gates,

begging sanctuary, for they could not contend with the creatures.

"They wear your face," the penitents cried. "This calamity is your

issue." But we were wroth, and turned them away, saying,

"These are not our Sons. And you are not our Brothers."

1.5i is for FE 1.02, no real changes in the mod

Dropbox is acting slow, wait 30 minutes from this comment to download.

Do we still need to avoid the undead?

edit - In game I mean... of course zombie apocolypse in RL.. I will avoid zombie, skeletons and all manner of undead.  :)

I downloaded your mod and am trying it out.  Some of my notes so far.

Initial Thoughts:

1.  I picked Stormlord simply because the mod was labelled Stormlord. Great history and immersion for the Drota. Looks very cool on the map.

Things I really liked:

1.  Factions are denied certain things, like cannot pursue X path. No horses and movement 2 is a major disadvantage for the Drota.

2.  Unique hero bonuses.  My starting hero was Okraxar, a skeleton champion with research bonuses.  However I did find it odd that he also had the Administrator trait, given his own personal history and the fact that skeletons cannot become Governors. Loremaster would have been more thematic I would think?

3.  Killing beasts is extremely easy with Hunter + Hunter Shortsword.  This gives Stormlord a significant early boost.

4.  New quest - Artifact hunt.  Neat!  And when I try to complete it there are various options for negotiation and magic use.  I wish I knew what each option would lead to, just for fun, but only two of them were available to me due to my race.

5.  Wow new traits!  Jumpy ahhahaha oh it made me laugh =)

6.  New items, I found 'Memory' pretty early on.  The history of this item was neat to read.  The next unique item I found was an 'Essence Binder', also very cool.  Unfortunately the Essence Binder doesn't seem to work - when killing Air Shrills it didn't do anything =\  This was a big downer, since it looked so interesting.

Things I thought were wierd:

1.  Highlighting the 'Hunter' trait gives a really wierd mouseover description.

2.  I was suprised when a spider webbed me and it worked.  I guess was expecting it to fail.

???

1.  Are the city names specific to each faction, or just randomly generated? I pressed Control-N a few times to find a good spot to start and ended up with a 5/3/2 w forest, earth shard and a grain tile.  This is a monumentally good spot.  Did you adjust the stamps at all for better spawns, or was this just luck?  I also found more settleable areas very close by, which is pretty rare in my experience.

2.  I ended up with three magical 'Books' in the Magic research tree, Frost Stones and Winds.  It is normally pretty rare to see that many.  Modded?

Typos:

Reading Drota history in the select a faction / leader screen, the 3rd and 2nd to last two sentences are semi-redundant, both talk about 'a new species'.

I can't figure out why some icons are Yellow Triangles with Exclamation points. For instance the 'Centaur Base'.

I have Stormworld as well as the Large UI Mod installed.

Bug in 1.5i.

In the farmers killed by greenskin quest you get at an inn, one of the group of enemies is named 'Test'.

Hi HF - just did the medium quest to aid the she-wolf in labor and I believe you are supposed to get some wolf cubs as reward... it completed successfully but did not grant the cubs. Unclear if that's a mod or vanilla issue. Thanks.

Heavenfall, any idea if the "New Umber" mod on wincustomize is SW compatible? it looks like it might need the same treatment as "female henchmen" for the units...

Each faction has their own city names.

I did not adjust starting positions.

The magic books are completely random, not modded by me.

Fixed the "typo".

Thanks for the feedback.

d'oh! I had been trying it out and it seemed to work.. too bad, I really liked it :(

I just downloaded and started Stormworld.  I'm floored by the amount of detail and polish inside the game, but before I play, I clearly need to read the lore.  I discovered that the river on which I settled is corrupted, and have no idea what that means and how to deal with it.  My problem, I'll fix it.

I'll list some issues here... bugs, comments, suggestions, whatever.

1. If you want to install the full mod, you need to uncompress a .rar file.  Not a problem for me, but it may be for some people.  Why not use a compression format that is supported by Windows by default?

2. I was looking for a human race to start with.  Sure I can use a vanilla race, but that's hardly the point of playing a mod as rich as this one.  Any chance that you add a race that is made up of humans, who I assume have been driven to near extinction by the newcomers?  Or maybe I should just shut up and go read the lore.

3. In the wiki, on the page that explains rivers, you have a very helpful table that explains what rivers do.  I think the table would be improved if the first column actually was the type of river that allows that improvement.  It's easy to figure out, sure, but it may be easier if the first column had the entries "Poison", "Magma", "Blood", "Corrupted".

4. Is it indented that all professions apart from 'Endless' cost a design point, even completely worthless ones like 'Hunter'?

5. Elves seem much weaker than other factions, they are like a weaker version of Tarth, with a number of weaknesses piled on top of that. If Greenskins get one less trait for being shortlived, should not elves get an extra one for being long lived?  I mean, I hate elves as much as the next Engineer, but this takes a bit of the satisfaction of kicking their ass.

1. Got any suggestions? I don't want to use an .exe.

2. My reasoning is there are already 6 human factions in the vanilla game. I don't feel the need to add another one.

3. Thanks, I'll add that.

4. Yes, endless alone should give you an extra point to spend.

5. I've thought about doing that actually. But I think their bonuses and weaknesses roughly match up. A huge bonus they have is that all elves gain +33% to direct fire/cold/lightning/arcane attack. That's one of the strongest bloodline bonuses in the mod. I think I will add more AI unit designs to boost their performance.

oIf I may add to these suggestions:

I think Win does support .zip-files naturally (at least starting with Vista). Perhaps thats a solution if making an install-.exe is out of the question ?

Personally I'd doubt that it would ease the installation process for "non-advanced"users though - if you look at it from that perspective, then installing a mod in FE (sadly) is quite complicated, simply b/c you need to move files manually to the non-standard installation directory of the game.

So in general I think if ppl can do that they should be able to handle winRar or 7zip easily, too. If you'd really want to cater to ppl not even being able to use an Unzip-program, I'd say making an Executable (with checkboxes to decide which parts of the mods should be installed) is the way to go =/

Playing Stormworld since 0.7, but due to a break I just recently started again and I experienced the same situation I think:

When starting "anew" I was looking for some faction/race that I was comfortable with from the vanilla game - I ended up testing the elves first b/c they seemed to be the faction that is closest to the vanilla factions and thus like a good starting point".

So in general I think it might be a help to new players to find such a faction (in case you aren't strictly against making/implementing a human faction @HF) or at least to find a hint in the races descriptions that a new player should probably start with this faction. Something like "If you are new to Stormworld it might be a good starting point to play this faction/the centaurs/elves/whatever")

Kinda just to help ppl to familiarize themselves / get over that "omg, everything is different!!!"-anxiety"

Thanks for pointing that out , never read that tooltip in game

[WAI?]Tireless March

The spell Tireless march grants the army +1 movement in the world map and in tactical combat.

You can cast it on every hero in a certain army, so if you go with 2 heroes in an army, you get 4 moves instead of 2 on the world map (seems to be ok), but also +2 move for your entire army in tactical combat (as if everyone got a free horse/warg)

Not sure if thats intended, but seems extremely powerful for such a low upkeep cost (?)

[WAI)] Destinys Gift

Costs 100Mana, seems to grant a champion or your sovereign either a) +3Attack, b) +3 Initiative or c) +10HP. I.e. you get a bonus equivalent to a comparable level-up-traits (Fast, Lethal or Adventurer are strictly worse than 1 cast of this spell).

As you can recast it as often as you have mana, you can create some serious 1-man-juggernauts (esp. due to the+Initiative).

IIRC this spell costs 500mana in vanilla, so I'm wondering if its supposed to be that good, especially as you can cast it on your sovereign and each time you get the +10HP-bonus, you also can cast the spell that grants one of your champions a levelp-up twice - essentially for free.

This combo just broke my last game, as I just spent all my 900 mana to cast it 9 times on my sov, getting +30hp, +12 ini and +6 attack -- and using those +30 HP to grant my biggest champion 6 free levels, still netting +12ini/+6attack, then just steamrolling almost everything my opponents had with those 2 heroes.

[wai]Economy/Taxes

Kinda wondering if you are planning on playing around with tax-rate-defines for abit ?

right now you use the tax rates from vanilla, but there you got a sweet spot of tax rate (40% for 22% unrest = full production 95% of the game) that is hard to leave. To get 50% taxes (just 12,5% more money) you'd go to 38% unrest (72% more from the previous setting)... and latter settings (60% taxate etc..) are even worse...  =/

----

That were my small "nags", if you are interested I can provide more (small, absolutely not gamebreaking!) things after each game.

------------------------------------------

Now for the positives:

I am really astounded by the faction diffenrentiation - so much more expanded even when compared to the 0.8v when I played last.  5*

On top of that I especially like that Factions are denied certain stuff, like Elves not being able to get Fire 3-5 or certain Paths.

Also a big props for the work on the heroes. Just got a few so far but I really dig that each one "feeels different" by giving them some unique starting bonus - even if its just granting a lvl 1 hero Path of the governor. Really helps to push a feeling that those a different ppl specializing in different stuff.

If a player wants to play a human faction, just use the standard ones. I'm not going to put another human faction in the game, it's a waste of time because it adds nothing.

I don't want there to be a starting faction. The fact that you mention centaurs and elves only point out to me that those aren't unique enough yet.

Collar of Firebreathing has a insane 4million cooldown. I understand what the description says, but I think it is sufficient to say 30 turns or something.
