No beta this week?

Just wondering, when we heard last week that there would be no beta in that week I had assumed that meant it would be out this week. Is that no longer the case? I have just watched the video and it makes me want to play the game, but I don't want to play 0.86 any more.

So, when is the follow on from 0.86 likely to be made available?

March 22nd or later. You could always check out some balance mods in the FE Modding section if you are tired of .86.

By 'some balance mods' you mean your mod right? Cause I don't see any other mods there about balance... :D

There are two now. One is from a new modder. Looks interesting, but I don't have time to play it right now.

Here's to hoping for next week!

Next week. But after that a long wait for beta 3.

The next one had better be good then :P

Maybe you could decrease accuracy of archer units by a relatively significant amount who move and shoot on the same turn, instead of giving defense to all units before they move?

More than fair enough. It'd be sweet to see how the existing system with some tweaks and more content functions. There's certainly a need for more polish and UI improvements, but I bet the testing/feedback/changes already will make the game another great step more fun.

Great to hear about next week. W00t!

Yea, Beta 3 will be introducing the major economic/city related elements of the game. The beta 2 series should begin the path of faction differentiation that will continue right up to release.

Ah... Beta 3

Gives me something to look forward to.

What where the major introductions in Beta 1 & 2?

I'm hoping the next rev comes out soon. The game seems interesting, but crashes too quickly to get anywhere.

I would imagine it was the AI starting to be implemented. IIRC Beta 1 had pretty much zero AI for anything beyond the basics.

So Thursday is the plan for .87?

Off-hand, I'd say the major improvements in Beta 1 and 2 were: a GUI display of path-finding, balancing, stability improvements, performance improvements (lower memory, better graphics responsiveness), new art assets, removal of caravans and imbuing champions as game mechanics, tactical combat improvements, drastic AI improvements, revised sovereign selection screen, addition of the Kingdom Overview screen, UI re-arrangement, additional content, addition of more shards/magical components, and improvements in using mundane units. I'm sure there's more things to list, but the changes have been pretty significant to seeing the game as more mature, strategic and magicy.

What is the point of moding a game that is still in the beta and that could change from version to version? Seems like a waste of time to put all that work in a mod only to have it null and void on the next beta version.  Guess you really have to love to mode to do this.

I play so many games, there are things that bug me that need modding. It would be way worse to play one more game with an impotent Lumbermill. But my mod is focused on experimenting with user feedback and ideas. Of course much of it is moot in the next beta, but there is a small chance that someone will have an idea that is awesome. I then test it out and love it. The idea gets its own post and the devs hear about it. That idea sparks some dev discussion and makes the overall design better. So it's not really pointless. Plus I love modding.
