Can't range attack or magically attack Abeix, Who Dwells Beneath

Hi All,
I've been playing the game for a couple of hours now,
Finally built up the courage to attack one of the bosses: Abeix, Who Dwells Beneath.
Unfortunatly, in battle, I can't do a range attack on the beast, since it walks in the cracks of the earth, and those tiles are 'blocked'.
If I push the fast forward button, though, I see in the details that it receives plenty of ranged attack damage anyway, just not enough to kill it.
