[0.86][Suggestion] Enemy AI should not web ranged units over melee

I am not sure if the AI being stupid or not counts as a bug or a suggestion.

In tactical combat the enemy AI is taking its time casting "Web" on my range units rather than the melee units bearing down on it. In this particular case my range units are also the ones with the weakest spell resistances which might be why it is favoring them (ranged were normal archerers and one hero with a spell staff equipped; melee were all heros).

It seems that for some spells like this one the AI needs to know that certain spells will end up having no effect tactically so either choose another target or shoose a different action.  Another example, "Slow" on a non-combat unit (un-upgraded pioneer) will have no effect on the outcome of the battle.

Hmm. Its usually better to kill the archers first ... guess it depends on unit composition though.

If I were fighting you, I'd likely web your ranged units first ;)

 

Edit: yea, webbed only works vs melee.

However, killing archers is certainly a priority :)

Web on my ranged units means nothing but "Oh, you cannot move". Meanwhile, my shock troops advance and obliterate the spiders.

uhm not really, archers should not shoot b4 you

 

so if you think you cant wipe them its better a debuff or slow

 

otherwise dmg is the best choice

 

if you dont have dmg spells maybe haste on your ranged is good too

 

or guardian wind never hurts

 

i agree web on ranged is the least of all choices

Hmm.

I forgot that webbed only immobilizes, does not prevent attack :(
