FPS Performance Is Poor

Hello, I have a newish laptop with average spec, but from the off I get poor FPS, From the first turn I get 40-45 FPS then after 30 turns Im down to 25-30FPS and the FPS slowy gets worse. Ive adjsuted all graphic settings to the lowest, disbaled outlines etc. Should I not be getting better FPS than that?

Aswell im not sure what map textures are?

My specs are

I5 2410M Up to 3ghz

1gb GT 525M Nvidia

6gb Ram

Map textures are basically how much graphics memory is being dedicated to making the 3d maps look prettier. In your case lower will probably be better. As you can see here http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-525M.43889.0.html the graphics card you are using is an decent one for a laptop. However if you scroll down you will notice that in many many games it only averages the FPS you are talking about.

Now obviously the game is still in beta and there will be some optimizations to the engine that happen over time. Probably not many since this engine is already quite old having been used in WOM. I would recommend making sure your drivers are up to date for your graphics. Update chipset drivers for your computer, and make sure you have all unnecessary background tasks turned off.

Others may have further insights for you. As I do not game on a laptop. Good luck.

This might not get read unless you put it in the support forum.

Do you have anti aliasing off?

thanks for the replys....

I have installed the latest drivers etc, all video options are set to the lowest and i still only get 40 fps at the start, then after 30 turns its down to about 25-30fps,

is this normal FPS for a laptop at my spec?

I would not expect more. Your graphics card is the problem, it's a low-budget low-performer. It is approximately similar to a 7900 GT nvidia card.

What resolution are you setting the game to? You can either try decreasing that, or you can try putting it at the same resolution as your laptop screen maximum. Sometimes, setting it to that maximum (your native resolution) can help.

That nVidia chip is a hybrid - it works in tandem with the Intel GPU on the processor.

Which explains the slow down after some time.. The Multithreading of the game is using more of  your processor making less of it available to help the GPU. It probably handles other games okay.. but most  games don't utilize much processing power. High CPU usage is going to have a direct effect on your graphic performance with that card. (something benchmarks usually ignore when testing making them useless when judging the performance of this type of GPU)

Under minimal load its similar to the 7900 as heaven fall mentioned. But under more load its performance is going to degrade due to the hybrid design.

(edit if you have pedestrians enabled that causes a huge performance hit turn those off. I lose about 1 or 2 FPS for every building Built with pedestrians on)
