[Bug 0.86] Random loot very streaky, doesn't look random.

In my current game, six of the eight pieces of loot I have gotten from lairs (everything else from enemy NPC) are duplicates.  There is something in the RNG which is driving this, somehow, because it's an extremely common theme to get an abundance of a few things and nothing of anything else.

Sometimes have the same problem

3 leather helmets

3 balanced axes

probably just a lack of overall loot though

Noticed the same issue. It's like I get a plethora of shields or maces, which doesn't do me much good. Loot is great, but I'm usually not fighting to get something I already own!

I don't think there are very many loot items in the first place (wish there was more variety). But random is random. Meaning if it does its job right, you're not going to get one of every single item in the game before you get two of the first.

 

Understanding probability might help here.

I understand probability. At least, I probably do. ;)

Our commentary is more that it seems like the randomization isn't quite so random. There are quite a few items to collect in the game, but instead they seem to come in waves. Maybe the randomization isn't as much? Or maybe it's just coincidence.

Noticed the same issue with champions getting map loot that they already are using. The loot database seems to have a good number of weapons but less in armor and shields.
