[0.85] WOW pioneers are cheap

Had a city with only 2 materials and one workshop, and was able to build pioneer in 2-3 turns?

Seems like spamming pioneers is the way to go....

Yup I usually create 2 or 3 Pioneers right at the beginning before building anything else

The default pioneer can be edited to travel faster, see farther and also be cheaper to produce. :D

Yeah, I think it is too cheap as well.

I don't think they were intended to be editable. But they were intended to be very very cheap.

Yo mamma so cheap ... I lost my starting city and didn't blink ;)

(mamma sounded funnier than pioneer)

When I get horses I equip all my pioneers with those. They become even better :D

Also when building them don't forget to check the lowest number of group so you get the cheapest version. The game does not care how many pioneers you used to build a new settlement.

It would be cool if pioneers actually took some population from the city they are built in and gave that number to the new one, lets say like Sword of the Stars does. Also not having enough of these population would make you unable to start a new settlement but only an outpost.

Sometimes I equip my Pioneers with spears.

Maybe I should equip my pioneers with horses and swords ;)

(only if I have extra of course)

-> I like how, even though the best keeps getting better, you can always build the crappiest stuff in the game and it still be useful.

For instance, even if you don't guarantee victory, building tons of mooks in open and defenseless  cities is both fun and useful :)

Why would you waste super valuable horses on a pioneer? That is madness!

Now mercenaries are quite cheap too produce. Unfortunately mercenary tech needs to be lower on the tech tree or something. They are also too infrequent on the map. Possibly make them come from a building you could add to a city?
