Unit Upgrades

Perhaps it is too late for .80, but I would love to see the unit upgrade system improved and expanded.

I would like to be able to upgrade individual units to the latest weapons and armor, at a reasonable cost.

I would also like to be able to combine smaller units into larger ones, for example 2 parties = 1 group, 2 groups = 1 company, etc.

As it stands now, we have to discard well experienced troops as technology progesses.

The upgrade system wil be cheaper. I don't know if this wil be the same for party size. Lets just wait till tomorrow. I do like the party addition tough.

I wish we could take our original groups of 3 spearmen and upgrade them to 5's etc as time progresses. Guess we'll know soon enough.

It could be, for experience of the new unit, and the amount of building turns (as percentage of new unit):

New Experience = (Original Size/New Size) x Old Experience

Training Time = (Original Size/New Size) x Normal Training Time for new unit of bigger size

which would take care of the new units needing training, and also starting with no experience. I don't think they should be also able to upgrade equipment at the same time though.

I would be extremely happy if they implemented this at some stage.

I was thinking that the weapons/armor upgrades would take place immediately - upon payment of money/resources. For example, basically all you're doing is replacing a leather glove with a metal one - what kind of training is necessary?

I also would think the combining of units would take place immediately, and there would also be some cost to standardize their equipment. You have an extra cost here also, as you lose one man when combining parties or groups (3+3=5!).

And totally agree with StevenAus' proposal on upgrading one unit to a larger size.
