[Bug 0.77] Destroying city buildings is difficult

Since some buildings are good early on, but later aren't worth the cost (like Masons after you have built everything, or Barracks if you are not going to train troops there again) removing those buildings is smart.  Perhaps this is tedious micro-management that should be resolved some other way, but as long as you are paying maintenance for buildings you are not using, removing them is good management.  But have you ever tried to remove a building?  You click the Destroy item in the build queue, which gives you a shovel cursor, then... what?  You have to guess at what building is the one you want to remove.  There are no tooltips.  I would suggest, in addition to tooltips on buildings when you are in build mode, that buildings be removable from the city details window.  That way there is no hunting around for the right building, just click the button beside the building you want to remove, confirm, and it is gone.

Agree.  There should be a destroy option in the list of improvement for a city.

I ended up looking in the Hiergamenon at building pictures to find the Slave Pen (odious to my Kingdom and I went to war with Umber for their temerity in building one!)  and destroy it.

Tooltips needed... my eyes are old!

I had the same problem.  It's practically impossible without tooltips in a big city.

100% Agree.

Workaround for now - zoom out to see icons.

I've memorized that slavepen is a shackle

I'm so glad you posted this. I have meant to start a thread like this about 15 times while in game, and keep forgetting.

My tactic has been figure out from city list what I want to get rid of and then get the demolish tool open and just start right-clicking on them all to see their names. Click cancel on the ones to keep. I tried figuring them out by looks but it was even more time consuming than just brute forcing through them. Was able to skip super-obvious ones like mana shrines or lumber yards. It has mostly always been slave pit and sacrificial altar I have been looking for, plus every now and then a few others to lower some maintenance costs.

But anyway, YES, please give us a delete button on city details screen!

I think they should have a city pane just like the one we have for enchantments.

the city pane would then list all of the buildings and their bonuses and it would have a destroy button next to each building in the list.

Agree a zillion percent on this one. I posted a thread about this myself, but got limited response. I went back to destroy some buidings, and there was no tooltip/popup to show what building I was going to destroy. Would be nice to be able to do it directly from the city screen, but at least need a popup of some sort.
