[.77] Newly created unit didn't participate in defence

I'm just barely surviving at "hard" level, trying to build a new unit before the evil enemy sovie attacks my capitol.

As I next turn, my new unit briefly appears outside my city, then the foe attacks and my new unit is NOT in the battle.  After the fight it is still sitting around outside.   Bug or WAD?  And would the new unit have been there to help in the emergency if I had enabled the "auto station new units" in gameplay options?? (about to try that).

Meanwhile, both surviving enemies have just done me huge favors by attacking my capitol with their sovie and some heroes when they weren't strong enough.  I think either could have stomped my regular army in the open field, but my city militia plus bonuses for hedge-wall & barracks saved my ass.  Now I have extra  xp levels plus nifty captured weapons, and things are looking much better.  Just a hint to the AI.

I saw an enemy sovereign lose his last city and produce a unit the same turn.  The unit was stationed outside the city even though that faction had just been eliminated.

Multithread mayhem I guess.

There's an option that automaticaly garrison your newly created units.

I could not find that option inthe menu either.

That's what I was referring to in the OP.  But I turned it on for a while and my next new unit appeared outside my city too, so not sure if it works in this game (it did in GalCiv 2)

Was there enough room in your city?  They can only fit nine non-militia units.

Lots of room.  It was early and all I had was the sovie and 1 champ.

But it gets better; much later in the same campaign, when I took Resolyn's last city and eliminated them, that city build a unit on that turn that ducked the battle and sat outside after the faction was eliminated   :)

In .77, before my 7950, I forgot I set to garrison my units when created (after I read this thread, because the same thing happened to me), and wondered why I never saw any just outside my cities.  So, they do auto garrison in .77, anyway.
