Down with Abeix!

The "not being able to target Abeix because his square counts as impassable" strikes me as a technicality that obeys the letter of the law but destroys the spirit.  Maybe fine, archers can't target him, but area of effect spells should be able to - AOE spells should *not* be limited to passable squares like they are currently, and they also should not be limited to avoiding all friendlies.  What does a Fireball or a Blizzard spell or scroll care whether a tile is passable or not?  Personally I think you should be able to target Abeix with any melee attack or special attack, and if you want him to last longer, just give him more armor or hitpoints.  I don't like the current implementation when you can't use any special abilities simply because the game says you "are not adjacent to Abeix" or "you are targeting an impassable square".

What do others think?   Abeix already has Overpower, which makes short work of even heavily armored very high constitution 7-man units, and can one-shot almost all heroes.  The last thing we need is for all AOE spells, and all special melee abilities not to be working, and to a lesser extent, all target spells not working either.

PS: The Abeix quest is bugged, even if you don't reload after getting it, defeating Abeix by autoresolve does not result in the quest being completed and the area being unlocked, even if all other notable locations and monsters are no longer there.

Defeating Abeix in tactical also doesn't complete the quest for me.

Same experience here, except my heroes were higher level, and so he couldn't one-shot them. What was particularly annoying was that movement to squares around Abeix was also screwed up - not impossible, you just had to click somewhere nearby and hope.

One thing to note, spells that don't need a target work just fine (like lightning).

The classic videogame solution to a boss like this is to have them disappear into the mists below, then appear randomly, strike once or twice, then disappear again. That way you only have a short window to engage, and must move units around to do so, while at the same time the boss is for much of the time untargetable. That would be a better (and more interesting) solution than what we have right now. Shame too, because Abeix has the potential to be one of the cooler bosses, as opposed to the Vetrar & Torax super-tanks.

Yes not being to target him felt like a big giant bug to me and I hope/believe it is. I mean were is the sense in that I can hit him with a melee attack but not use double strike on him?

Fortunately I had storm to down him.

I could target him. Standing back in the starting area, there were a few squares behind him a fireball could hit that caught him in it. Unfortunately this rendered the fight particularly unenjoyable.
