[0.77] [BUG] This game does not ALT-TAB well

Neither did EWOM.  Will you please spend a few dev cycles on that?  I can ALT-TAB out of SWTOR and every other game no problem.  ALT-TAB'ing out of EFE is a crap shoot.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it crashes, sometimes it just hangs.

BTW, my machine is running multi-core, 16GB mem on Windows 7.

I can minimize it ok (better than WoM).  But with my dual-monitor I don't actually alt-tab -- I just click on the other monitor.

But standby is death.

I haven't had any problems Alt-Tabing. I did with WoM, but so far have had no issues with this one. Might want to post your debugg.err or if zip file if it creates on next time it happens.

As the OP stated, EWoM had the same problem.  If I remember correctly, so did GalCiv2.  The standard circumvention is to play in windowed mode, with the resolution set the same as your desktop resolution.  I've been doing that and having no problems with alt-tab.  Still, it should be fixed.

I think I had one crash due to alt tab but its ways better than Ewom. Make sure you post them bugs so they kill it with fire! :thumbsup:

I've only had one such crash so far. in WOM it happened EVERY SINGLE TIME. Much better indeed,  but please get this one completely ironed out.

Works fine on my system, apart from crashing, occasionally, when I try to exit the game outside of the game. Though I havent tried that since 0.75 when it crashed. I can suspend FE as long as I like.

This game has successfully Alt-tabbed far more consistently for me than many games. It's quite solid for such an early beta.

I haven't had a crash yet due to alt tabbing.  

However, my task bar does stay up when i load the game, which shoves the game screen down and makes it difficult to play unless I use the "auto hide toolbar" function, which is equally irritating for everything else.

I can't bring it out back when alt tabbed. Similarly when the comp stays without being touched and the logon screen appears, I cannot return to the game.

 

Note, that it is not a crash - the music plays, the cursor change, only the screen does not redraw and stays black.
