[balance][0.77] Maul weapons incredibly overpowered

 

The weapons with a maul effect are far too powerful for their ease of access. Last game my sovereign killed the game ending quest dragon with two basic hits.

 

Also, related bug/balance, maul's continuous attacks ignore status effects like stunned.

It is weird, I could not land a single second maul attack in my 0.77 game, even when my lvl 20+ champion was trying to hit lowlies archers from another kingdom. 0 succesful mauls in like 100 attacks sounds like a bug for me (or the accuracy drop is much higher than the displayed 4). On the other hand, I never missed a single double strike or crushing blow. Maybe these are bugged and always land.

Found the same thing, it's absurdly powerful. Should be removed from the game entirely.

It doesn't need to be removed, just tweaked.  For example, each subsequent hit could impose a sizeable to-hit penalty that keeps growing.  That would keep you from going on a rampage with Maul, without having to remove it.

It doesn't seem all that powerful to me in .77 -- vastly less than in .75.

Hum... Since I get the berserker axe, my champ kill everything since its level 7 or 8 O_o

And I'm fairly sure the maluse really applies.

Why would you get a weapon that has backswing or hits two times when you can have rows of 10 attacks ?

It could be fixed with a maximum number of additionnal hits, or a non linear increase to the accuracy malus : for instance, it could start at 4 and be tripled for each subsequent hit.

I have found this as well, in 0.77. I have not landed a SINGLE maul follow up so the maul option has kind of gone the other way now and is completely pointless. :P

I don't know if it is affecting enemy mauling attacks against me. I haven't had any maulers land a first blow yet.

Since 0.77 I've been getting 2, 3 at most hits out of my maul weapons, and seems to be below average damage. I deal at least 4-5x damage doing the double attack over maul.

It's possible that there is some other bug effecting it, but double attack is two attacks at -4 each. Worst case maul is one at full accuracy and one at -4, and can be used every round instead of once per three rounds.

Accuracy increases by two per level - finesse, accuracy and leadership perks increase it substantially as well.

There's some faint chance at level 5 that a regular weapon that does double or more the damage of a maul one would be better in some circumstances. At level 20+ there is no hope of that whatsoever*.

 

 

* Yes yes, I know, what if you are surrounded by low level stuff that you could kill with one sweep if the weapon was higher damage but the maul weapon leaves them on 5hp, whatever ;p

My Monarch was able to hit 15 time in a row ,with 5-30 dmg/hit, and kill an epic monster with 180 hp in one attack serie. (he was lvl 20 then and you could do very long maul attack series)

I think it is fixed in .77, it is working fine. Are you sure you are patched to .77?
