[AI suggestion] AI needs to learn to "kite" things like big guardians and drakes.

Not send troops rushing it if it can help it.  I think this would help the AI vs big monsters.

Should kiting even work?

Kiting only works if you are faster than the opponent, and the opponent is retarded.

If the AI moved towards where you are going (intercept course) instead of where you are, then kiting only works for running away, and there is limit to how far you can run away. Alternatively the AI needs to realize you are faster than him and has ranged weapon and simply go into hidding.

Variable initiative would help to fix this, as would capping the insane movement heroes get

If initiative is static, a faster hero/unit can endlessly outrun a slower one. Adding a slight variance to init each round prevents that, while still preserving the advantage of speed.

In a 1 on 1 situation in open field , a faster unit+ fast initiative+ ranged weapon should always win.  It worked that way in history.

... I'm not so sure it did ;)

Can't recall any historical bow on melee duals off the top of my head anyway.

End of Sythion's quote

LOL  XD

The Huns pretty much invented the tactic. Get a horse, get a bow, get a million friends. It is an effective strategy.

ha!.. i believe his talking about one on one duals.. the classic dual. Not warfare with lots of people. Just armour up and wait till they run out of arrows.. (if it was possible)
