My experience on Ridiculous

There have been a lot of threads about the game being to easy, so I skipped straight to ridiculous after beating normal with my uber-maul sov.

Lets just say the difficulty is aptly named.  Wonders were being built before I had 2 techs complete and it was only about 100 turns before Relias rolled up with overwhelming force and ended me.  My score 35, Relias 1300.

I am sure that the stories of easy wins are true, but at least this time it was ridiculous.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I think people are still not aware of world difficulty being different than that of the enemy nations and/or exaggerating.

0.77 has a somewhat improved AI with ridiculous toned way down.

I found hard overwhelming in the last build but I got a poor start that game...

I had a similar experience.  I beat the game on 0.76 on hard so I moved it up to Ridiculous for 0.77.  I'm still just barely getting my civilization started and the AI rolls up.  Scores are me with 23 Faction Power and two AI Factions I've met so far at 192 and 122 Faction Power.  Ouch.  Then I go into the Diplomatic menu and discover that I've got 95 gildars and Tarth has 12,208 gildars!  Then they demand 4x to 5x more money than I've actually got, and when I fail to deliver they declare war on me.

Definitely need to take it back down a notch to hard.

I plowed the game repeatedly on normal->challenging->hard, but ridiculous had AI bonuses that were too stratospheric for me to overcome. I think it's probably beatable with a good random map roll that dumps strong heroes near you (or cheating by setting all the AI factions to your side), but not really interesting.

Haven't tried again since they lowered the AI bonuses no ridic, but really, exploiting the game is pretty boring at this point, I'm waiting for the AI revamp to try again.

Mostly at this point I'm just looking at bugs and design issues, or UI stuff that drives me crazy.
