Beta : feedback
- I find that the cost of spell maintenance is too high compared to spell casting and resplenish rate. As a result, it is much better to cast direct spells in combat than boost troops with enchantment. Something should be done to let an enchantment tactic viable.
- The current XP assignment tends to push the player to have a main army composed mainly of heroes. I think something should be done to make other tactics palatable.
- Heroes with Governor advantages sgould get a fairly reasonable amount of XP for just standing idle inside a city. That should be significant, so that players should have to weight the benefit of sending the hero in an army. Somthing like 10xp/season/governor rank sounds adequate.
- Heroes should not be offered more than 2 special promotions (path of the mage, path of the warrior etc.) ; it doesn't sound good that a heroe could get all such paths... At the very least, decrease the chance of beeing offered a new path for each path already known.
- I believe that spells should be researched independantly of each others. They come too easily.
- I have yet to see how Focus affects the next spells. Does it really also affects other casters as the description seems to imply ?
- Heal (in combat) is much too expensive (mana wise) and is not an interesing choice of spell ; It is much more efficient to cast offensive spells than try to heal troops. Healing loses one round (meaning likely more damage coming) and the healed amount pales when compared to both the damage output from the same mage and the opponent.
- I have seem several times opposing stack merge on the map when their move has been planned.
- There are problems approaching Morion (from the marshes) on the tactical map. Troops would not move correctly and I lost several rounds positionning them. This did not happen iin other fights.
- My outposts seem stuck and don't grow ; furthermore, unlike the initial settlement, one cannot see the potential of the chosen spot (grain/production.)
- The rate at which discoveries are done seems too slow. My capital has been idle for some time for lack of buildings to produce. I have done a pretty much balanced research.
That's pretty all at the moment. The game seems to be much much better than the first Elemental.
