[Bug]?? Random monster killing champions on map

I KNOW that when I was reading one of Brads play-throughs about 2, 3 weeks ago, when he saw this happen, he made a comment about how "it kind of defeats the purpose if the monsters will just kill them"  (I'm "quoting" his intent there, I don't think those are his exact words). 
Was this changed?  Is it cool for monsters to just walk up and kill a champion?

I have had this as well and I have seen the AI empire doing it as well.

Well, I know that the AI doing is part of the game design, we can do it back to them too (though that's a whole 'nother can of worms I'll get into someday soon, i don't really LIKE the ability to do it).  It's Brads comment from a while back now about how the monsters shouldn't be doing it that makes me curious.
