path finding wackiness

Has anyone else noticed some strange path finding characteristics?  I like to select my army or hero and click a destination further down the map but when I do this the army takes all sorts of crazy paths.  It seems like a click fest when I constantly can only click on 2 two squares at a time.

Were you allied or NAP'd with any AI? If you are, the pathfinding will try to move you through friendly cities, but if the cities are garrisoned, you can't step over them, so the pathfinding freaks out. Yes it's dumb :P

I once got almost completely stuck due to this (and I still can't figure out how to break a NAP) - I had to resort to casting raise land repeatedly to build a very expensive land bridge AROUND allied cities.

I've had this issue as well.  This occurs even in your own kingdom.  I think that the units are trying to find the path of least resistance and starts heading towards a road.  This can be annoying when trying to get an army to skirt around monsters or go treasure hunting.

I tend to get wacky unit movement when I'm trying to move to a square that is on the slope of a mountain.  Instead of going to the square I've chosen the unit scurrys off somewhere else.  Usually if you rotate the map, you can get it to work properly.  But there's clearly a bug going on somewhere.  Note, I'm not talking about trying to get to an inaccessible square, the squares I'm talking about are on a mountain side but are accessible, in fact there's often something I'm trying to get to on them -- either a treasure location or possibly an enemy unit I want to attack.

I am having issues within my own kingdom.  Infact now that I have read ydejin's issue with paths around mountains, that does seem to be where I get stuck a large part of the time. It's not me trying to go over inaccessible mountain squares, it when I have to go near near mountain slopes, etc.   instead of going to the square, it decides to go the opposit direction.  It can find its way, as I said, if I click just one square away at a time (essentially holding its hand until it gets there)

And it is still present in the .76 version, extremely irritating. Maybe we should post this as a bug so they can get around fixing it before the final version is out?
