[How do I?] Upgrade my existing troops?

Lets say that in the early days of my Empire I raise a band of spearmen to fight for my noble cause.  Over the course of many seasons they stand close by my side as I tame the wilderness and slowly work to grind the screaming populace of Relias' Kingdom under my heel.  As time passes my blacksmiths and other artisans manage to research better armour, and I would like to outfit the King's Own regiment in a style befitting their great value me and to my Empire.

How do I upgrade them?

Click the double up arrows on the very right side of the menu options underneath the units (where you select guard and whatnot) and select 'upgrade' then swear repeatedly that you don't have the several thousand gold required to do so.

The costs are ridiculous, but I am waiting to post about it until the end of beta. I am sure Derek put those costs in as a place setter and just never balanced it well.

Oh man how did I not see this option. The cost doesn't bother me in the beta since that should be a relatively easy tweak when the get around to adjusting values, I'm just glad the ability is in place.
