[Bug] Upgraded Pioneer Unit Has "Build Road" option but no "Settle/Outpost"

and yes, they can actually build roads.

Build Road?

So, I designed this unit in a previous game.  It's an upgraded settler (with a compass and telescope).  So it gets 4 moves, better vision and costs just slightly more than a standard pioneer (due to the savings from the Conscript attribute).

Redesigning a unit like this works fine in the game in which it's designed.  But when I started a new game and this unit was available, the unit doesn't have settler abilities anymore.

BTW, the magic that distinguishes a Pioneer from a regular unit is mysterious.  Why isn't there a "Pioneering" attribute?

What!  How exactly did the road building work?

A Note on roads. I'm not sure caravans are working %100 correctly. Last game I played I had three cities and two caravans. After the caravans got taken out by wandering monsters they re-spawned on their own, but wouldn't continue traveling, nor could I move them or disband them. I could select the re-spawned caravan unit, but couldn't make it do anything and so they were just stuck sitting outside my cities.

Not sure if it was a bug or they just aren't fully iimplementedyet.

You move the unit to a tile and click on "Build Road" and it puts down a road.  It's like Settlers in Civ except building a road takes no time.  So I can build 4 road tiles per turn with them.  Wheee!

I didn't know that about Pioneers. Sounds really helpful. Do caravans go faster on those routes, too?

Back to the OP, I think Derek mentioned he originally was going to have some units with abilities you couldn't design. This seems like one of them. I'd think this qualifies as a bug as you should be able to upgrade pioneers.

Just to be clear Pioneers CAN'T build roads.

Upgraded pioneers can shop, too, apparently...

I also have run into this, lol. They need to add packs back into the game to be able to add more specialization, and also be able to make your own settlers

Still happens in 0.76.

*Edit* If you build a road between two cities then link them with a caravan the "pioneers" road will be used.  Not sure what happens if you make a shorter road later, will check it out.
