[UI] Small improvements to heroes screen

First I must say I have a lot of fun with Fallen enchantress even if it crashes every hour (a good cure to one-more-turn disease).

Here's some small suggestions on the UI for heroes management:

  • XP and current life should be displayed on the character sheet (especially since the bottom left hud disappears if you open a hero page)
  • Double clicking a hero/unit icon in the army pane should open the hero/unit sheet
  • It would be nice to have arrows in hero/unit sheets to navigate between units in the same army, same for equip screen
  • As another post mentioned, equip  & trade screens could be merged, or at least navigation between both made easy. Now it's very complicated to do a simple thing like giving a health potion to a wounded hero and drinking it. It could be for instance:
    • Have a button in hero screen to trade / equip
    • Click on character portrait to go to character screen

Great suggestions! These little tweaks would go a long way to helping with some of the screen interactions. I've found the Equip/Trade screens a bit cumbersome to navigate.

It would be great to have a paperdoll for equipping champions.  This has been the standard for years.

This could also be used to tweak itemization.  Why can path of the mage characters equip a 2-handed axe?  Why are assassins wearing plate?

End of klaxton499's quote

I don't think anything's tied to the path or usage of a character currently since there aren't officially "classes" as in many other games. I agree there should be some restrictions. There are some currently, like how you can't use a 2-handed weapon and a shield, but I'd think they could add some others in, too.

I know the paperdoll has been brought up before. I think in WoM they added some arbitrary restrictions (only up to 5 rings, etc.), but I'm not sure they're present in FE yet.

For objects restrictions, I usually prefer when it's the system that is motivating you to put the "right" items on the right class. Look at how the Oblivion/Skyrim system is working: as a mage you can wear whatever you want (including plates!), but you end up using robes because they give you tons of bonuses that works well with your strength.

You could have robes that increase your spells power / reduce their cost, plates could reduce initiative (less attractive for an assassin) - they might already I never got past the leather in my games :)
