[Pacing] too many units.

Noticing that I actually ran out of things to build today.

My suggestion: costs, building time, and lethalty of regular units needs to be increased.   Unsure what to do about buildings.

Having fewer buildings means you can get to the core of the game faster - producing armies and hording gold to equip your heroes. It shouldn't be necessary to construct something every turn. The only thing that bothers me about this is that cities have nothing to do after they have completed construction. A trades good/housing/research option would be nice and would probably help with the excessive time the research portion of the game requires.

I would like to have the option to make tons of weakling soldiers that take very little time to train or make some very strong ones that can go toe to toe with heroes.

As far as what to do right now, just get that building from citylevelup that gives you gold wile not producing. A very useful building.

There are some improvements that you can pick when the city levels up that give you an effect like that if the city isn't building anything

Agreed with Sean here. Asymmetrical warfare is a reality and should be displayed in-game (arguably, it does). Some country's army might be very well equipped and trained (I miss the training levels... a little) while anothers might be weak, lightly armed, but huge. I like that sort of a conflict.

EDIT: Discovered the Barracks (or was it Command Center) building which adds +1 level to the unit. I think there was also a trait you can apply to increase leveling (awesome) and another one that adds a level (at a higher wage). Excellent!

For buildings, a few more buildings wouldn't hurt. I must say I greatly enjoy the city leveling options/buildings as they add some excellent choices and options.

I see bonuses to constitution, strength and dexterity as the best way to give some Kingdoms who focus on a strong regular army. As far as balance, any medium that gives you such an advantage (probably a barracks upgrade) should also weaken some other strategy. That way you can't have stormtroopers and godlike heroes. So you heroes would get a level cap or perhaps a trait that makes them get far less experience, but those stormtroopers are very powerful. This kind of balance will lend to very unique strategies.
