I would like to see a skill or soemthing that you could take to increase your hand to hand fighting. I want to make a Soverign Sho'Nuff.
Prob modded with some abilities such as
* Kiss my Converse, Kick attack (if there is an animation for it) with a knock down
* The Glow -Health < 20% Triggers a buff for increased strength, dexterity and improved initive.
I hate hand to hand fighting in games. Nobody in the history of the world would choose to not use a weapon if available. I can suspend my disbelief with dragons and magic, but with a guy trying to fight bare handed against a guy with a sword.
Lord Xia - agreed. Fighting hand to hand was developed as a last resort discipline (after losing weapon), as a form of physical training and competetion (Greek Pancration), or in regimes that banned weapons from general populace (Japan).
No kingdom, duchy or even a piddling village have ever fielded unarmed troops.
A long wooden pointy stick is ridiculously cheap and always better than bare hands. In case of conscripted peasants, work tools like pitchforks, flails and scythes were used. Even a frying pan is better than bare hands.
It's a game. Not a historical recreation. At least the game should be designed so that modders can put in hand-to-hand fighting buffs.
Pretty sure this could be modded in easily. Add a few hand to hand themed abilities, add some cestus/gloves reward items, add a Path of the Monk trait tree, maybe some themed quests for 'Path of the Monk', done.
I think it might be realistic for a being with a magically enhanced body. If your skin was as hard as iron it might actually be as effective to fight with them.
Hmm, I would be OK with it if "hand to hand" meant X-men Wolverine like blades. Think Freddy Kruger on the battle field!
Ah the Monk thread. A herpes of sorts for RPG forums.
