[Question] How to move the map?

This might be a incredibly stupid question..

How do you move the view/map without needing to click on the minimap?

Holding the middle mouse button seems to activate the camera controls (e.g. tilt and rotation)

Using the arrow key moves the unit selected.

Hold left click and drag it. I am sure we will get more options as users frm other games start asking the same question.

Thanks for the help :)

And someone happens to know if there is any way to change the rotation permanently?

"Change the rotation permanently"?

If by that you mean "make it so it doesn't snap back when I move the camera", then just check the box in the options.

Being able to move the map by sticking the mouse to the edge of the map woud be both intuitive and useful.

They've had this kind of weirdo movement ever since Galciv. I remember complaining about it in the GC2 forums and basically being told 'it's fine, go away' :P

Something must be done. It's completely awkward and counter-intuitive. There should be a cursor edge-screen scroll and an option to change arrow keys from movement to map scrolling.

Good luck. I whined about it in GC2, I whined about it Elemental, I pass the torch to you :P

Ugh, I don't get people who don't use click-and-drag. It's far more precise and responsive. (Though I'd argue it should be tied to a different mouse button like it is in most games. Using the same button to select units and scroll is a bit off.)

Wherever my pointer is, I can instantly move the map, and move it very precisely, rather than needing to suddenly jerk my mouse to the left and hold it there, then back to the right when i overshot, etc.

I totally agree it should be in the game, though, for those who prefer it. (Weirdos!)

I don't get why games don't have custom hotkeys so I can set camera scrolling to WERD or ESDF, then I don't need to click and drag or edge scroll :P

Pretty sure the answer to both is 'we're not designing the game'

End of Mtrixis's quote

I'm writing code in Matlab to perform analysis on simulation data, which I'm sure is like Dick and Jane compared to Stardock's epic novel here.

But at points there are changes I think about making, but then I realize they may mean I'll have to sit here for another hour changing things around.

So... yeah it would be nice to have arrow key/scroll with cursor at edge of screen support, but I can live with left button drag...

It might be an issue with the engine itself, which I doubt they'll be willing to reprogram...
