A friend of mine who isn’t into video games but is into D&D asked me how I would describe Elemental: Fallen Enchantress. I said that imagine that instead of you and your friends being a group that runs around having adventures and wreaking havoc in the countryside of someone’s realm, you are instead in charge of said realm.

I always liked the artistic look of Elemental, but it is even snazzier now.  In fact, it sort of has a look like 15mm miniatures - which I think is great.

Right now, tactical battle maps are chosen from a library of maps based on where you are.  So they aren't generated on the fly but rather pick the one that closest matches your current circumstances.

Oh well, that's somewhat disappointing, but I guess we were just getting our hopes up. Here's hoping the next expansion has maps built directly from the surrounding terrain.

Also, one thing that I'm really hoping for, and this may be somewhat of a pipe dream, is for the nations in the game to eventually get to the level of civilization at which you can build those awesome monuments you see in the destroyed wildlands.

We see massive monuments and impressive walls stretching across the map, it would be pretty cool if eventually the player was able to plunk down those monuments and continent spanning walls within the game and generate effects.

The other day in another thread someone mentioned being able to include all adjacent "hexes" in a battle [as in AOW Shadow Magic].     This would be a great addition to FE.     I never saw any comments from Stardock on that posasibility- did I miss something?

That would be a must for strategical reasons...

Also this,

"Birthright? I played that, was fun."

I played Birthright for years.

If someone managed to translate that into a game, I think none would be able to beat it as a most complex, very interesting storylined or not realm strategy in fantasy setting.

Game is awsome, and sierra at that time did their best, but unfortunately....

Someone else played Birthright?!

I spent a lot of hours on that game. If someone made just the tbs version of that game, I would buy it. Maybe a few less bugs :D

As far as I know, it will be available on the new Stardock Central (which certainly must be released soon) or possibly available from the Elemental web-site when logged in in a valid account.  It will *not* use Impulse or be associated with Gamestop in any way, although the complete game for those who don't get it free will probably be available on various digital distribution platforms, including Impulse or whatever Gamestop calls it these days.

For anyone who hasn't visited the "New" Stardock Central game manager/store.... here's a link.

Well, I guess I have used it before now.  However I don't think the client is available yet.

Pretty sure it is.  Almost has to be if they're going to use it to deliver FE this week.

I know if you login at the new site, it'll show you all your Stardock game/program purchases (only Stardock games right now).  You can even redownload a couple of them.

I'm pretty sure Brad has said that eventually we'll have access to everything we bought from Stardock (i.e. registered with them before Impulse sold) without going thru GameStop.

I mean a client on the local computer, not using a browser.  Is that available yet?  Where can you get it?

actually i think i am glad that the tactical maps aren't generated on the fly.  it assures me that they will prob all be pretty good, my only concern is will there be enough so as to avoid "arrow to the knee" syndrome.

Birthright! That was the name of the $%^&! game I couldn't remember.

'Twas very fun I recall.

We had a group that played as one kingdom though. Worked out pretty well.

I like all the graphics and style except for the ugly faces :-).

They're all blank fields for practical purposes. The only thing subject to change is the aesthetic stuff painted in the background.

Birthright is awsome.

One of the best realm management and RPG games I ever played. Nice storyline too...
