FE: Will there be anyway to attach created sovs to a given faction

Genghis Kahn with the Mongols, Julias Ceasar with the Romans, etc.

I like to play with as many factions I can (I think w.o.m allows 29 players at last beta), would like a way to assign sovs made specializing in a certain way with factions specialized in a way that compliments it instead of making a sov that is stupid (less magic) with a faction that is made to be strong in magic.  I have Saruman (Strong magic build) leading the Hobits of the Shire faction that I've set up with negatives to magic, not cool...  Will there be a way to assign these in E:FE?

You wouldn't think it would be a problem given that that's what the game does for the human player.

But personally, I'm not in any hurry to do so, because the world is not really open to much reinterpretation. All we know of the world is what we see in the game already. If the game had more of a generic high fantasy style I might do, but then if it was more generic, a lot of people would be happier i think.

Yeah, I know I'd love to have fantasy races as factions.  I mean we have trolls, dragons, giant spiders & such as wondering monsters, but no way to make them factions of there own.  Elemental story line is fine for the campain, but for the sand box I'd like to make my own stories with the races I've come to love from D&D.  I'm a supporter of this style of game (&Stardock), but feel like we are forced into playing in the 'blandness' of the storyline no matter what. No offense meant by this, just care for making my own worlds more than playing in this one that doesn't have the races I have come to expect & enjoy.  Just seems like they're limiting the game to a high degree by sticking to the storyline for the sandbox.  When you make a new game you get to choose the name of the world, but elemental is the only name that can really be used.

This could all be fixed with adding a race builder in the sandbox that would allow for different body styles, colors, sizes, width, stats, so we could make what we wanted, which would help to make the game have much more replayablity.  One would be able to play a game in MiddleEarth with the races of MiddleEarth, or a game in Krynn with the races in Dragon Lance.

I do love the idea of a race builder. Personally, I'd like to put in some races like Avians and Draconians. However, I wonder if a race builder is actually a feasible concept. My guess is that we have to lean on the modders for more races.

As for assigning a custom leader to a custom faction, that can actually already be done. All you have to do is create a faction, then locate the faction's file on your computer. Open it up, and then add (or replace. I forget if there's a default line) the following XML code:

<SovereignUnitType>CUSTOM LEADER NAME</SovereignUnitType>

Now, the one thing to remember is that the Leader Name is the computer's name for him, not your name. So, if you created a leader named Joe, the computer will actually save it as something like Joe8673202_432. You should find the custom leader's file on your computer as well, and that will tell you the computer's name for your character.

Anyway, once you plug that line into the Custom Faction file, you'll always have the leader of your choice leading that faction.

Or perhaps you already knew that, and just mean that you'd like to be able to set a personal AI strategy for each of your custom sovereigns and factions. I can only agree with you there.

It may sound cynical, but I always assumed the reason to avoid generic fantasy was largely a practical one, because of the problems in creating different 3d models, animations and armour for all those races.
