When is the beta?

I remember Brad saying something a couple months back about how the beta might be starting soon.

Any update?

It's still starting soon, for the proper definition of soon.

Yes, if Stardock's time table is even close to that of Blizzard's then it could be several months at the least.

In the land of Elemental, it is always Beta...maybe not the Beta you want, but always Beta...

Lol. Exactly. Como los Mexicanos dicen "MaƱana." The concept is quite similar.

With the uptick in dev diaries lately, I'm thinking it should be sometime this year.

That said, I expect the first few betas to be rough.

I would be kinda scared to allow people to beta it after all the bitching they got last time they let out beta builds of elemental.  People downloaded the beta then complained that it was buggy junk.

Strictly speaking, there was no public beta of Elemental except possibly the very last build. What we got was mostly pre-alpha or alpha level stuff. "Beta 1" wasn't a beta by any usage of the term in the industry.

Nope, and that was part of the problem. In the beta for WOM most people talked about how awesome the game was. Very few people complained about the beta and they were quickly pounced upon by the others.

Ultimately, we were told that what we were playing at the time was an internal beta that was completely different than what was being released. It ended up being the same product.

Did they say that it "is" coming soon? A once not so famous president of the USA said, "that depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is." Opened up a whole new way to look at words.  :omg:

Made me lulz.

I think having internal testing is more important than rushing a release, like WoM was.

WoM was not the first, nor will it be the last game rushed to market far before it was ready.  What made WoM so note worthy was that Stardock doesn't usually make that sort of boo boo.

Here is hoping that FE is handled in a manner more consistent with StarDock's track record.  And +1 on the "I think having internal testing is more important than rushing a release, like WoM was."
