No link to personal site from gallery profile

Issue: Lets say I'm browsing the WB gallery and click on essorant's name, which brings me here. That page shows me 18 of his latest skins from all galleries, but I want to see only his WB skins. There's no "next page" link nor is there a link to his personal site. On his personal site I can browse his entire gallery of skins, and then narrow them by library, to view only his WB skins.

However, from the main WC gallery, there is no method to get to his WC personal site other than manually typing it into the address bar and hoping that it's the right address, or tracking him down in the forums to see his forum profile which does link to his personal site. (There is an "essorant's skins" button on the right, but that only shows a simple list, not a gallery view.)

This has been the case since the inception of the new site and I would think it was high time that it was fixed! Also for months I cannot set filters to view 60 skins per page and the yesterday and all time favorites are reversed. I was told to be patient and that these things were on a list to be fixed but it has been forever and fixing the site bugs does not seem to be anyones priority. Makes one wonder how long it will take to get the upkeep of our software through a new method  due to the sale of Impulse. X( >:(

These sites (like https://www.wincustomize.com/users/444/essorant) are the profile links for the site.  The old personal sites are not used anymore, and they were just kept up for reference.  New members can't create them.  The links via your profile do need to be changed though.

So then there will be no way to view all of someone's skins? To be able to sort them by library?

You can view all of someones skins from their "profile" link.

https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/all/author/theAVMAN/pagesize/30

But yes, there does need to be a way to sort them by gallery.

This button is already in place for it, just needs to be coded.

Guess we can add that to the list of features from yesteryear gone missing.  However, you can select a different library (of the ones that are shown) from that dropdown in the upper right corner.

Okay, now I am confused. If I follow ID's "profile" link, or my "profile" link or Bebi's "profile" link, I get the personal gallery. So, I have to assume that they are still in use by following the profile of anyone that has a personal site? But shouldn't that be where one ends up at when they click on your name? Most casual browsers will not have a clue how to view all of a given authors skins. :meow:

There is a column on the skin list that is totally useless.

We already know who the author is since we just clicked on the link for that person's skins. Why not put a category column there instead? Like what kind of skin it is? It's no category filter, but it would help when f.ex. searching for all WB skin from an author.

Personal pages with comments was one of the things that made you feel like you were part of a community. It's a shame we are now being told they are no longer supported.

You know, this could be one of the reasons the community seems to be dwindling.

Well, since it was abused by various users in different (nasty) ways I find it quite ok that this feature got the boot.

That skin list wasn't designed for people to browse your skins, it is a way skinners can see their download counts, comments, and delete skins.  Hence being called "My Skins". ;)

But you can view someones skins via their profile, with a tile view.

ok I will explain what I am saying in more detail

Someone NEW to the site and still would go for some of us that has been around here for some time too. (mainly new comers)

ok so they just figured out to click on Explore and then they click Wallpapers they see one by 2of3 (I'm using this one ubuntu wall)

they like it! so there, like oh look his name looks like a link they click it or they see (More From This Author) and still click his name

they both take you to the same place. 2of3's Profile which is limited to 18 newest skins .. so the newbie is going to do one of or both of 2 things

he only has 18 skins. and move on to something else. and/or might just see 2of3's Skin to the right (at which it did not say for me My skins cause I am on 2of3's)

so anyway they click it to see more but they don't  (Just like what I did till you showed me to click on Explore Filter then click on tiles but then you still have to click apply) to see a list of thumbnails..  so,

what I am saying is if that page is for use the skinner then maybe it should be defaulted to tile view and set to the landing page so when someone come to our page they see all of our skins in thumbnail and not words..  and bring back the sort order to.

Where exactly?

When you click on "yesterday" and "view more" you get "alltime", when you click on "all time" and "view more" you get yesterday.

And the "My Skins" page is still broken...at least it is for me...in both Firefox and IE. The totals are all cut off.

Probably already been asked...and answered but is there a person or persons directly responsible for effecting site changes on a full time, continuous basis? Guess I'm just wondering because whenever you (and other site "staff") say "we're working on it" who is we (other than volunteer mods or Jafo). If it's none of my business, hey, that's cool, really, but it's just a question that came to mind given all the small site flaws folks seem to find here and there.... :|
