more customizeable games

Is there any way to make the world you want to play in more customizable? right now the only option you can choose is size. in the manual it says you can choose continents, pangea, or a mix but i dont see how. would there also be a way to have a start game world peace timer? cause im my game(on beginner level) the kraxis have 1500 points, then theres the second place team with 200. wth? how am i supposed to compete with that? im guessing he got such an advantage because he did an early game rush of some sort. i want a way to be able to prevent this because i like long marathon games.

Map editor, which features more advanced map generation options and is actually randomly generated.

i jusdt spent 25 minutes in map editor and couldnt even figure out how to make land. i asked it to make me a large single continent map and it made a tiny single continent map. then i asked for multiple continents and it gave me like 8 scraps of land on a 95% sea map. is there a tutorial on how to make maps and such?

I will note that anything other than a single land mass broke the AI last time I checked. It did not use ships.
