WinXP black screen on reboot after using Bootskin/Logon

First, let me say, I'm very new to WinCustomize and any help on this would be appreciated.

Are there any issues with either bootskin and/or logon studion for an LCD monitor using the digital connector? I'm experiencing some severe bootup issues where it won't transition from bootskin to logon, I only get a black screen.

My system specs are WinXP SP1 on Athlon XP 2400, ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, 512 MB RAM, Chaintech 5700 Ultra AGP card.

I should note that I (by accident) figured out that the analog connector on the v-card works fine with the LCD. Also, I can successfully boot in to Safe Mode with the digital connector to the LCD, although it hangs on "mup.sys" when booting, only to resume the boot process after a minute or so. I did some research on the web re: "mup.sys" and found suggestions for disabling "mup.sys" in WinXP Recovery Console. I did that and still no LCD on digital connector.

Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance.

There shouldn't be an issue with bootskin causing an lcd to blank out. Most likely you have another problem that bootskin adds to. Have you installed any other boot screen programs besides bootskin? Have you made sure you don't have any other problems like a virus?

It might be a problem with your video card. I don't know how to fix that besides making sure you are running the latest drivers for it.

I've had the same issue. Reboot, I get the boot skin(in horrible color and resolution) and then black screen. I have to restart in Safe Mode and set to default boot skin and then all is good. Any Ideas?

Disable Bootskin until 1.03 comes out....should be tomorrow.

Acknowledged on waiting for Bootskin 1.03.

But i just wanted to comment that this happens to me occasionally. However, I think it's a particular bootskin or logon file among the many I have installed. I have both bootskin and logonstudio set for random rotation, so I can't point a finger unless I do some tedious testing.

Just food for thought in case your problem exists post Bootskin 1.03

Have experienced same problem. Fault was with a particular skin in which (for bootskin only) the author had made the wall more than alloted colors. Logon problems occured when skin author DID NOT have required .bmps and didn't change the uifile data appropriately. I'm not an expert these are facts of what happened to me/my system. Hope it helps....

Pretty good point when you consider the great absence of "How Do I Make A Bootskin?" threads in General Discussion since the release with the addition of the Preview feature....before the author usually had to run the bootskin on their own machine to see in action prior to uploading it here.
