What do you hope to see in v1.4 or v1.5 of EWOM?

Me I hope to see more options for city leveling, right now... we have three options, magic research, research and money bonuses. I'd love to see bonuses for other resources, metal, materials, food production, heck possibly even horses or wargs bonus production increases.

also has anyone noticed when you raze a settlement that there are left over rubble? that rubble prevents you from constructing on the tile which is rather annoying, I'd love to see that removed or be able to clear the tile and then be able to construct on it again. These are but a few things I'd like to see, but I'm sure there are other things others would like to see, suggestions and thoughts anyone? what would YOU like to see in coming updates? besides obvious stuff we already know will be coming and or fixed.

Mostly the general idea that Fallen Enchantress will be taking that many ideas from War of Magic. I couldn't copy the initial quote however without making it look as if you said it. So sorry for the confusion.

lol spotted another one that puts a monkey wrench in the works of the game and puts me off cause I HATE, and I mean venomously HATE scrapping experienced units

- finally, and i can't believe i'm still saying this, LET ME UPGRADE MY UNITS! everyone has been asking for this since day one and i can't believe it's still not even being talked about by the devs. i'm starting to wonder if they've got some philosophical issue with the idea of upgrading units, because we never got it in GalCiv2 either (not properly anyway), not even after 2 expansions. until i can do this i'm always going to avoid building troops in the early game, because i don't want the hassle and lost investment of deleting and replacing them all the time. this absence really works against those who build an army early, because they don't even get to keep the experience they've earned.

Thinking of E:wom as a testing ground for ideas, I suppose I wouldn't mind if they continue development after v1.3. One feature I'd like to see is dynasties. I believe Derek does not think dynasties belong in the game , so I would like to see what Brad had in mind and see if it works out or not.

I also wouldn't mind seeing more AI work and some added polish. In particular, it is an eyesore when the game lets the player research spell levels after all spells are researched.

What do I hope to see in v 1.4 and/or 1.5?

Their existence.

lol yeah, we can only hope before FE makes it out that those versions see the light of day after 1.3.

a side note, reading Elemental Destiny's Embers and I'm quite enjoying it. Been far too long since I read a book... guess it came a good time for me to start picking up reading books again, just might get me back into finishing my own novel before I have to go back and edit and change things in the story lol. If there are two things I like to read it's science fiction and fantasy, just been too wrapped up with RL/work and playing games to take the time to actually pick a book back up and begin reading again. gets the creative wheel rolling again in my head.

I think that originaly what attracted me most to Elemental was the way they presented the world as being so emersive. I really got sold on how grand the game was going to be, the way it seemed to be larger than life. I loved the idea of restoring a broken world, and i'd kind of like it if that whole theme was brought back into the gameplay. Because right now it's not really there, aside from a few graphics changes and the ruined temples/lost libraries.

Personaly I would like to see essance brought back as some sort of stat with which you expend through permanent spells or global enchantments to eaither revive the world (create food and perhaps other resources) or gain power, with both options open to empires and kingdoms. I'd like to see much more active terraforming of the world with occasional "natural" resources or leftovers from the destroyed society.

Dunno if the sort of game I was hoping War of Magic to turn out to be is too far from the kind of game it is becoming, though.

I am really looking forward to the additional games that SD comes up with from the Elemental world though. I hope they do a first person RPG :D

first person... perceptive.. meh... I'd prefer a 3rd person lol that way I can see what the heck my character looks like... but yeah... definitely would love to see a RPG from the world of Elemental, I'm gonna eat a sock if they actually come out with a RTS game as well... rofl... long ways off of course since Elemental is only in the beginning of it's birth

Lol. I guess most RPGs that I have played have options for both first/third person view anyways. As far as RTS, a real time slasher could be cool xD

Anyways. Something else I want to see would be the modding capability be really built up in the next couple patches. I had heard about python being implemented to enable some deep changes to the game, and that would be cool. I would really like to try and do some large mods.

My modding ability is limited at best lol... coding/scripting in general escapes me and all that jazz. Best I'd manage is changing around things in XML files which is what I've had to do when doing some modding changes for mods in X3 Terran Conflict.

I am behind you there. A simple turn one type of unit into another, even at full cost, would be fine. Just transfer the units experience over.

Minor faction love.  Ive given numerous ways these could be made interesting and fun.

Different armor tracks, light armor and heavy armor, not just one track with padded at the bottom and super heavy plate at the top.

More weapons, more balanced weapons and armor.  Balance Sword & Shield to be equal to two-handed weapon.  Now, there is no good reason to use a shield over a big weapon.

Meaningful stats.  The bonues from stats are miniscule compared to gear.

Fallen heroes.

Far more quest, with meaningful rewards.

More resources.  Make horses and worgs available for everyone.

More magic from the start of game.

More gear from the start of the game and make clubs mroe useful.  If we could start the game with the ability to make Patchwork armor (armor that use to exist) and have clubs that could hit people and do some damage, then the early game wouldn't be so boring or rush to get leather armors and spears.

Tactical battle changes.  Improved AI, and limited range on spells and bows would go a long way.  Also, balancing of powers.  The Scions one hit kills are silly.

yeah... I didn't get the armor thing... sure padded armor... then leather armor... to light plate armor? WHAT? there is something missing there... CHAINMAIL ARMOR HELLO!? that's the next step before plate mail armor.

They use to have scale and chain mail options, but it was buggy and unbalanced.  THe armor didn't look good on Women, and they didn't set it up to be usable for all races, so they just got rid of it instead of making some adjustments.  just sad.

that doesn't make much sense to me... I mean they don't have to make chainmail look all that detailed... also another thing that I don't get... armor on women... yeah... I know... why not actually make armor that looks like it's for women?. All of the armor looks far too big for them to be wearing.

I love Stardock, but they cut a lot of corners on many of the features in this game when it was made.  From a distance, the game looks awesome, wow, you can do this and that, amazing.  But when you see the details, you think, Jesus, they did that half ass, didn't they?  The women's boobs poked through the chain-mail and scale mail and padded shirt.  Also, they didn't enable scale mail for any race other than the human race of "Men", so not even capitar or Tarth could use it, lol.

Yeah... I've noticed as well they cut corners... I do not like half-assed work, when I work I put my all into it. I put 110% or more when I work, I will not settle for less then that especially if it comes to detail. Like ship models, even if I lack the skill to add the details I will later once I go back after learning to add those details will still put them in place.

As good as work that the Developers did on EWOM they could have done better instead of cutting corners and again though we know they've admitted they made mistakes, some small and some large and I give them credit for actually admitting those mistakes.

They can redeem themselves by fixing those mistakes and of course making sure FE doesn't have those mistakes and isn't half-assed made. I hope they do not cut corners when they go about making it.

I liked chainmail because you could put clothes over it so that everybodies units didn't look like clone troopers. There are a lot of armor models in this game that simply didn't get used. Undoubtedly this is because of balance. More armor would be pointless because they would be so high on the tech tree that they wouldn't get used and would require new weapons to balance them. There is no space between existing levels because all existing armor pieces already only scale up a single defense point. The problem is that Stardock really painted themselves into a corner with the combat mechanics. I have a mod where I tried to show how they could get around this. Everything from easy AI to lack of armor diversity can be blamed on the combat mechanics.

It's a unlikely hope now but I would like to see female armor(there is female clothing), and the ability to decorate troops so that all troops don't look the same. The ability to decorate armor with tabards, spikes, shoulder pads, fins, feathers, masks, or whatever would be really nice. Give every faction some unique ones, ie only Capitar could add roman style crests to their helmets. I would mod it in but models aren't my strong suit.

Man, me too.  I would use them just for that reason.

And, they don't have to wait till FE to redeem themselves.  They can do a lot with 1.3 I think.  Just go in and do the bitch work and clean things up.  I swear its those little details that really make a game great or crap.  Attention to details.

this is something my step father nailed deeply into my head. THIS is what drives me to be such a great worker at work and this is what my bosses love best about me is that attention to detail makes me work harder, make sure my work is supreme above all else.

Honestly - I'm of the opinion they should nuke harbors and ships completely until it can get some love (like minor factions). I haven't used a boat since Sep '10 (about a week after I bought the game and realized they were useless).

It's easier to teleport or just raise land to an island anyway.

it would be great if they added more ships, water resources and of course... besides the habour other special structures that allows you to gain bonuses from nearby water tiles. Of course I've heard of a few buildings made for such a purpose via mods but yeah... they should nuke habours unless they are going to add a lot more stuff later on.

also... when I meant ships... I meant spacecraft type ships lol I've made quite a few for a mod called Sins of the Fallen over at the SOSE forums. Creating creatures I believe is beyond my ability as a modeler because I've yet to grasp such abstract figures, it's easy to create something out of a block and then smooth and mold it for a ship but creating a Dragon or something else... that's a different thing... and yes I've tried making a Dragon model before and it didn't go over well. I most possibly could create ship models if I put my mind to it and had pictures and stuff to look at... which I know there is a wealth of that kind of resource on the internet.
