Purpose: Record memory performance related to loading games without an Elemental restart (i.e. how many loads it takes to crash the game).
Scope: Specific to the known memory leak issue with reloads.
Scenario:
- Start fresh Elemental instance
- Load save
- Record memory performance
- Go to step#2 and repeat 2-4 until crash or 10 turns without material change in memory usage
Saves:
- 1.80GB @ 60%
- 1.99GB @ 66%
- 2.08GB @ 69%
- 2.15GB @ 71%
- 2.18GB @ 72%
- 2.18GB @ 72%
- 2.16GB @ 71%
- 2.16GB @ 72%
- 2.16GB @ 72%
- 2.20GB @ 73%
- 2.24GB @ 74%
- 2.23GB @ 74%
- 2.23GB @ 74% - CRASH
Well memory was increasing until around load #4 where it seemed like it peaked and was holding steady from load 4-9. At this point I was optimistic there was a ceiling put in to stop it but... on #10 it increased and by the 13th load it was a crash. Since it happened on the load, it did not CTD as I was able to exit from the main menu. It gives the error that the save game is not compatible with the version, same thing I saw in 1.19e. Looks like memory usage went up about 430MB across 12 loads so that is an average of 35.8MB of memory not clearing per reload which is better than the just under 50MB I saw in 1.19e.
Let's get to 1.3!
