The Rampant speculation over scraps thread

Gamespot has a new developers diary video on their site, as well as a few screenshots and some artwork, all for Fallen Enchantress. There is still not very much confirmed about FE, so lets see what we can gather from these few scraps that we do have.

1) First up, this guy;

He looks quite (un)dead to me, with the spike through his chest and all. So is he a zombie, one of many? Or is he something more unique? There are not supposed to be any undead in ewom, but maybe this has changed for FE? Also, what's with his legs being bound?

2) Another guy, but with a name; The Haunter

He looks like he is capable of doing some magic, so is he a sovereign? Does he have his own faction? Or has he gone another path, and is he more like a mini-boss you can encounter?

3) Swamp encounter

Looks like Verga (with his new fire sword) is in a bit of a pickle here. The Haunter can be seen in the background (right?), so is he here to help Verga, or is he commanding the creatures? Maybe he's a third party, ambushing Verga when he's already in trouble... Also, two new beasties, Plain Stalker to the right, viper-like thingy to the left.

4) Big badass wizard with Bigger Badassier Demon in the back;

The demon we have seen before, but the wizard I don't recognize. Basically the same questions as with the Haunter; Is he a sovereign, with a faction? Or is he a neutral? Could also just be an image of a 'generic' sovereign...

5) Big fiery worm;

There are some tactical screens of Verga encountering this beasty. Boogie confirmed that this creature is a mini-boss. So is he an elemental? Dragon fused with an elemental? Lab-experiment gone rogue? Could he be a Fire counterpart to the creature below?

6) Big earthy worm;

We've seen this one before, but I wanted to include it. IIRC, this is another mini boss. (Did anyone catch a name?) He looks a bit like a Earth counterpart to the creature above, but he also has a bit of a demonic vibe I think. The big guys in the back look like earth elementals, the smaller in the front could be minor elementals, or some kind of demons.

7) Morrian, the ruin of summer;

We've seen this guy before, in the artwork for Ewom, but he didn't make it into the game. Included it again just because he looks friggin' awesome! He's another mini-boss. There are some screenshots of this guy in combat, as well as a feature in the video. What's up with his title, 'the ruin of summer'?

Cool post. This gets me even more excited for FE.

Wow, I didn't even notice, but you are totally right. That is the hilt from the sword blade in his chest. Even cooler.

Isn't that last guy the earth lord or whatever from the developer diary video?

1) First up, this guy... what's with his legs being bound?

I've got two guesses on this one. 1) The bonds indicate that he is a former criminal or rogue who, after being caught and imprisoned, has been cursed with "undeath/unlife" for some heinous crime in his past. 2) The bonds figuratively indicate (or perhaps actually enforce) the fighter's bond of fealty to the Fallen Enchantress and/or the Haunter.

@IronKaiser: Or perhaps he simply impaled himself by accident with his own sword and was cursed and bound for his clumsiness? ;-)

I think this guy was just into some kinky stuff before becoming a zombie and now doesn't have the cognitive power to take the bonds off.

obviously haven't considered that he's been chained and impaled with a sword onto something... then probably frozen (not necessarily ice) with magic or some such... and locked away somewhere...

until the idiot adventurers walked in, broke the sword when trying to pull it out and let the "thing" loose.

Whose boots are these?

And why are the colors reversed on the title? Is it possible we've passed over into some strange mirror universe? (get it? ha ha)

I'm pretty sure that the first dude is one of those cursed fellows who have to kill someone else in order to pass on. Not undead, merely a prolonged life. Unless I'm wrong, of course.

The Ruin of Summer is some sort of elemental master, it seems he guards an area, and he presumably also guards a Shard. The wyrms may be similar.

I doubt that the Haunter has his own faction, at least in the traditional sense, as he does not look very civilized. While his garb is of good make, his pallette seems to indicate a person of the wilderness, and also have some shamanistic trappings involved. Perhaps he is some sort of hut-dwelling sage, or a man who runs among the beasts, and exerts some measure of control over them.

The blue channeler reminds me of Jace from Magic: the Gathering, and this largely overpowers any other initial impression I might have of him. But he appears to have a demon behind him, and thus we can assume he is tied to demons in some way. The way that the shadow falls on his face supports this. I doubt that he has a faction of the sort we've seen, but it seems likelu thaty he controls demons, and he also looks to have some affinity for the element of water.

...The bonds figuratively indicate the fighter's bond of fealty...
End of IronKaiser's quote

"A spell bound these men to the titan... Now they roam the world, trapped between death and eternal service to a titan that no longer exists."

Ha. Called it. 'Course, I didn't guess fealty to a Titan, but still... I've got to get some kudo points, right?

Nice job on finding the article, Dsraider. Very interesting stuff there. So, what do we speculate on now?

Frogboy recently said that random events are coming down the pipe. I wonder what this mean exactly.

In means, we are getting some random frogs down the pipe. :P

Best regards,

Damn you Dsraider! I was just about to do an update with a few more scraps I'd found, and there you go and spoil it!
Seriously though, good find, thanks!

You guys remember the art/screen shot from EWOM showing a dragon with a massive army around him??  Did that happen? Heck, did most of what was talked about/shown make it into EWOM?

Yeah... those images mean nothing. Considering the track record of EWOM, very little if any of this will actually make it into FE.
