torrent help

safe torrent client to use on XP PC?

I recently tried to download the civ4 mod 'rise of mankind.'  All the links report back that the server is 'unreachable.'  

Apparently i need a torrent client on my pc to successfully d-l the civ4 mod.

I did a search about torrent clients, and there is a great deal of info, and many warnings about malware either disguised as a torrent client, or 'bundled' with some torrent clients.  

Would a savy PC user suggest some safe and efficient (bit) torrent clients for me to install on my PC?

bittorrent is by the far the one i use for downloading mods and models from games never gt a virus from it

Thanks all for advice!   did it.  Now we will see if my 2mg ram system can actually run Rise of mankind mod for Civ4.
