Equipment for the Traitors?

Hey all,

Is it possible to get equipment (armour most especially) for champions of a race incompatible with your own? I play Kingdom and often find I am unable to equip some of my better heroes, typically with armour, as they are an Empire race (at least I assume that is what is going on). Can I find some equipment for these guys, possibly in the shop of a non-aggression pack Empire city? Maybe loot from a quest? Off the black market? Off a dead body? Ebay? Anything would be better than running around the wilds naked...
