Stupid strategies that we have thought have but don't want to try to see if they work

Ok, this thread is a continuation of my gripe about the guardian units being able to leave a city.

step one in strategy: moderate city spam

you just need a quick 5 or 6 outposts to start this off

step two:

get a city to level up to 2, pick guardian unit then sell the hut

step three: build the hut in another city and repeat.

step three: use these quickly gained units to bum rush your neighbouring ai's

This can still be effective against  hard and challenging ai's since lv 3 guardian units can be strong enough to provide decent support to your heroes when it come to beating up their armies (i picked a lv 3 guardian by accident once and got some mace guy with 19 attack and 4 defence)

they whole point of this strategy is that the numbers of units you can build through this method and the quality of them (random quality) is superior to what you would be able to get at quickly through working your way up the warfare tree and civ tree to provide equipment and materials to build them.

so i repeat.

1) city spam

2) guardian unit spam

3) bumrush

4) victory.

}:)  yeah. ai hasn't got a chance.

This seems like it requires far too much investment to be gamebreaking. At most, it could be viable, but I strongly suspect it needs more than that to back it up on any reasonable difficulty.

So is your suggestion to not allow guardian units to leave a city at all? Or that guardian units should be nerfed according to the progress of the player (or levelled is more accurate I guess)?

I maintain that guardian units should have no upkeep cost, NOT be allowed to leave their city and should grow more powerful as the city gets bigger to remain useful as a city upgrade that you picked when it levelled. Those 6 or so spiders that spawn that have 4 attack and no armour are not gonna be useful for very long AND if your unlucky enough to get this "pick" it destroys your early economy by sucking up all your gold.

I never said this was a game breaking strategy, its just a silly early rush kill your neighbour kind of thing.
