Movement is breaking the game for me...

I finally brought myself to start a new game with the new version of Elemental (I was in one of those interest lulls) when I was instantly struck with something that is ruining my enjoyment in the game that didn't seem to be an issue before.

My units constantly don't move where I tell them too....

I was just starting out when BOTH other factions I have met decided to declare war on me only turns after our introductions.  Troops started pouring into my lands...  but then they just hung out beside my cities instead of attacking...  I decided to be proactive so I sent a unit out of the city ,,,  he walk WAY past the red x marker of where I clicked for him to go.  Then I got a unit and left the city to stack with the first...  he went somewhere entirely different.  then again...  and again...  I had 4 units standing in completely different tiles when I click each one in the same tile...  I click to end my turn and the enemy unit EASILY kills one of the solo units...  my next turn I stack the remaining 3 into one stack and click to attack the enemy...  I troops walk toward them, overlap the enemy, then reappear where they were at the turn start...  they are out of actions...  end turn...  enemy attacks and takes city ...  next turn I attack city to take it back...  stack unit walks toward city and reappears back where they started from...

I got so frustrated I didn't even want to continue...

I hope this hasn't been discussed elsewhere but I didn't see it when I searched the forums..  Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug...  is anyone else having this happen???

Ouch, that sounds like right nasty bug/problem. I've only started 1 game so far with the release of 1.11 (official) and I have not seen this problem. I'll keep an eye out in case it should happen.

Maybe it wuld be a good idea to upload your save game with that bug in the bug report forum so they could take a look at it.

Good luck oakenspirit.

The only fix'es I remember being posted about this, involved some of the following.

Under the options, Changing the 'hardware mouse '

Removing themas that effect the mouse.

Changing from window/full screen to the other.

Updating your video card drivers.

Its a hard one to pin down as EWoM Has had buggy mouse issues since day dot, how ever it seemed most of the shit was pulled together for 1.00

Even with a working mouse I have found smoe areas of maps worse than others. For instance in the large maps most of it works fine, but the easern edge is frustrating to get the cursor to identify the right tile. It is most noticeable in the large map with the roads in it.

I have noticed that pathing is very weird. The AI seems to have a hard problem picking an efficient path.

I take a troop or army and click a destination somewhere more than a couple turns of movement away. They will get there, but I have seen troops walk along side a road for 3 turns. It will take a direct path through forest when if it moved to the side a couple spots it could avoid the forest completely.

It also does not update for changes in terrain. Had one walking down a long mountain chain, so I cast a Lower Land spell to create a pass, the troop still followed its original path all the way around, even though there was now much shorter option available. I have also seen it ignore newly created roads unless the path it was taking crosses the road.

I have also seen it go around a city when it could have followed the road and taken the city shortcut and saved several turns of movement.

Agreed that the pathing seems wonky - my units definitely aren't calculating the most efficient path to somewhere correctly. Sometimes it looks like they go out of their way to go through a forest even though there's a clear path right beside. I find that I end up babysitting my units by moving them manually if I need to make sure they get somewhere as fast as possible - obviously not ideal.

I have had trobbel has well with mouse accurcy at times I find it easer some times to rotate the map. so I can get a better carmara angel on the tile I want to go to.
